Greetings Shooters!
I hope this newsletter finds everyone staying cool and dry! I can confirm that neither of those things are possible in Southwest Florida, and I suspect the same is true in most parts of the state. This time of year tends to be the slowest for our member clubs and every round counts, so please remember to stay hydrated—and if you can bear the heat, get out on the line!
Upcoming Event – 78th Annual Southern Zone (July 18–20)
The next big shoot on the schedule is the 78th Annual Southern Zone Tournament, taking place from Friday, July 18th through Sunday, July 20th. This year’s host clubs are:
- Silver Dollar Shooters Club (FL)
- Coast Rifle and Pistol Club (MS)
- Central Kentucky Gun Club (KY)
We encourage all FTA members to show up in force, shoot your best, and do your part to represent the Sunshine State. Let’s bring some hardware back to Florida!
FTA Summer League – Don't miss out on the fun!
If you haven’t entered the FTA Summer League yet—good news—it’s not too late! As a reminder, 100% of the registration fees go right back to the shooters. Like last year, we’re allowing you to submit your Southern Zone singles targets as League targets. You only need 400 total so this would be a good way to knock a bunch out. Just head over to our website and use the forms to register and log your scores. It’s a great way to stay sharp and earn a little something back for your efforts.
2025–2026 Shoot Cards & Website Updates
The 2025–2026 FTA Shoot Cards are hot off the press! These will be making their way to FTA clubs in the coming weeks and will also be available at the Grand American for pickup. We’re working on updating the "Events Calendar" on the website with all submitted shoots—so check back often to plan your next outings.
Florida Group Photo at the Grand American
For those traveling to the Grand American, we hope to see you at the annual Florida group photo, scheduled for Wednesday, August 6th at 8:15 AM. This is always a great way to catch up with fellow Floridians and show our presence on the national stage. If there are any last-minute changes to the schedule, we’ll send out a newsletter blast and update the homepage. If you have any questions during the Grand, FTA Vice President Scot Lauderback will be on-site and available. You can also reach him by email at vicepresident@floridatrap.com.
Stay safe, shoot straight, and support your clubs!
If you have club news, pictures, or stories you'd like to share in a future newsletter, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s keep the Florida trapshooting community connected and thriving, even in the off-season!
