THE SECRET TO SUCCESS
But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others] Galatians 5:22a
Love is the greatest thing in the world and it really should be the number one priority on our spiritual list. We should develop that fruit in us by studying and praying about it on a regular basis.
I’ve been reading a book about the God kind of love to hone in on my love walk and in it I read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 in the Johnsons translation. It really got my attention.
It reads:
“Let me describe love. It stays in difficult relationships with kindness. Love does not play “one-up-man-ship,” nor does it react to those who do. Love is not rude or grasping or overly sensitive, nor does love search for imperfections and faults in others. Love is the most enduring quality of human existence. It keeps on keeping on; it trusts God in every situation and expects God to act in all circumstances. Nothing can destroy love.”
There are some powerful lines in these 4 verses! A couple grabbed me, like: Love stays in difficult relationships with kindness and love keeps on keeping on, trusts God in every situation and expects God to act! Wow!
The greatest miracle and witness to the world is for Christians to have this kind of love for each other. God’s love towards us gives us the power and authority to demonstrate God’s mercy to others, just as Jesus did on the cross when He prayed to the Father to forgive. It’s God’s pure love in action.
According to the Word, there is no one we cannot love with God’s help. Walking in the God-kind of love is our greatest challenge, but also our greatest reward.
Love is the best thing we can commit our life to. It’s a commitment to learn how to walk in love and it will be the best decision you’ve ever made! Because, love not only blesses others; it also blesses the one doing the loving.
Declaration to Life: The love of God has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. I have God’s love nature in my heart – in my spirit. I will do my best to let that love nature dominate me, instead of my flesh nature. Thank you Father, that as I endeavor to grow in the fruit of love, you will help me be all that I can be in you!
