WORSHIPERS ARE WARRIORS

“For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” 2 Chronicles 20:12

God…I don’t know what to do…!” Haven’t we all cried this out at different times in our lives? You might be crying that statement out right now.

“I don’t know what to do… so I think I’ll Google and see what the experts say.”  “I don’t know what to do…so I think I’ll comfort eat.” “I don’t know what to do…so I think I’ll binge Netflix” “I don’t know what to do…so I think I’ll be consumed with worry and try harder to figure it all out.” Each of us has our own favorite answers to that desperate cry. What we put at the end of the pause in that sentence is so important.

I love 2 Chronicles 20:12 because it gives us the correct response to “I don’t know what to do…” Jehoshaphat was facing a vast army that was quickly approaching when he cried out these words. In that very scary moment, he said, ”Lord, we don’t know what to do…BUT OUR EYES ARE ONE YOU.”

These people knew they had no might against their enemies. They didn’t know what to do but they knew they needed their eyes focused on God and God alone.

In reality, we don’t need to know what to do; all we need to know is who God is! That is what matters on hard days. This is what brings victory!

After Jehoshaphat makes this declaration he does something powerful; something that made all the difference in his desperate situation. He put the worshippers in front of the army! He didn’t lead with the generals, but with the singers, the choir members!

Worship is absolutely undefeatable! When we know God and we worship who God is; His character is a fortress and an all-out assault against the evil one!

The Israelites were completely outnumbered and it looked bad!  The battle didn’t look like it could ever be won. Have you felt like that? This battle is too big and looks impossible…in these moments; fear is your biggest enemy. Fear challenges us to put on man- made armor. But we must realize we have a better option. Praise and worship is the weapon! It’s mightier than solutions, experience or degrees.

If the enemy is coming and the battle is raging, stand your ground, raise your voice, lift up your hands and speak/sing truth about who your God is and what He has done! Hands lifted to heaven are holding invisible weapons when they are praising God!

Jehoshaphat won his battle and we will too! Worshipers are warriors!

Declaration to Life: God, I don’t know what to do, but my eyes are on you! I will worship you until I see the battle won!
