WHO ARE YOU WEARING
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14
When a celebrity gets married the news media usually mentions the designer of the brides dress. It’s a compliment to the designer. They want to give the designer credit for making the celebrity look really good.
Romans 13:14 says we need to “put on” or “wear” Jesus! I promise you, you’ll look better wearing Him. When we put on Christ, He makes us look good but we also compliment our designer, God!
Now of course Paul wasn’t talking about natural clothes in this verse. He was talking about putting something on supernaturally. When you said, “yes” to Jesus you became a new man! The new man is in you but you have a part to play. He needs your cooperation. You have to believe that you are a new person and put off the old and put on the new. In other words, you’re going need to change your clothes!
What do I mean by that? You have to change your lifestyle, your thoughts, your direction, what you’re watching or reading, who you’re spending the majority of your time with and what you’re saying.
Changing our clothes isn’t something we do once and then we are done. No, this is a daily thing. You will have to dress yourself each day by acknowledging who you are in Christ! The believer is clothed in His righteousness, in His royalty and His ability!
Paul, in Philemon 6 said the communication of our faith may become effective by the “…acknowledging of every good thing.” That is a continual process. Your faith will become effective as you put on Christ and continually acknowledge, think, speak and act like what the Bible says about you is true. Daily acknowledging “I am who God says I am. I can do what God says I can do. I have what God says I have.”
Who are you wearing? Are you wearing your old man? Ephesians 4: 22 instructs us to take off that which is corrupt…” Or are you dressed up in Christ and who He says you are? When you wear Christ, you’ll look good!
Declaration to Life: I’m changing my clothes today and putting on Jesus! I am who God says I am. I have what God says I have and I can do what God says I can do. I am righteous. I am royalty and I have the life of God in me!
