We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Cor.4:8-9
When you meditate on this verse it is such a great revelation of God’s character, which brings such victory when we are hard pressed and feel like life is pressing in on all sides.
We are definitely living in times with numerous amounts of uncertainty and people seem to have lost hope in so many different areas of life. As we minister, we hear statements like, “It is never going to change, and it will always be like this.” Or “I have felt like this for so long, I can’t see past the issue.”
2 Corinthians 4 reminds us that no matter how hopeless something may look in life, that situation is subject to change and we as Christians will not be defeated!
I remember one particular Sunday evening; my son brought home a memory verse that his Royal Ranger’s teacher had given him to learn. It was, “Christ in you the hope of glory”, Colossians 1:27. We went over and over that memory verse during the week. He memorized it, but it also became more real to me as we rehearsed it day after day.
Think about it; as Christians we have the very hope of glory living, residing and dwelling in us! Issues of life are problems to deal with, but the greater problem is when a person loses sight of hope. At that point hopelessness becomes much more of an issue than the issue itself.
Hope is the definite, positive, expectation of good! When Paul wrote “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed: we are perplexed, but not in despair: persecuted, but not forsaken: struck down, but not destroyed” he was dealing with plenty of issues. But Paul had a firm grip on the fact that Christ was in him and it was the hope of glory that gave him the strength and confidence to be an over comer. He knew nothing would defeat him!
If you are facing a not so positive situation and you feel like you’re are losing your footing, you need to say, “Christ in me the hope of glory!” until it becomes real to you. Remember hope is the positive expectation of good and God has not and will not ever let you down!
Declaration to Life: Christ is in me and He is my hope of glory!
