BE SEATED
And he raised us up with Christ and gave us a seat with him in the heavens. He did this for those in Christ Jesus. Eph 2:6 NCV
Have you ever had a time where you were on your feet all day and you couldn’t wait to just sit down and rest? There’s that old saying, “Sit down and take a load off.”
We can relate sitting to resting. Jesus is seated in heavenly places at the right hand of God and He has made us to “sit” down with Him.
Being “seated” refers to being in the rest of God. God wants each of us to enter into His rest. That means He wants us to be anxious free, relaxed and not all twisted up freaking out about this or that. He wants us to enjoy life and rest in Him while He works our issues out.
Our part is to believe and rest in Him. We get that mixed up, don’t we? We try and work everything out and the byproduct of trying to control everything is anxiety and anxiousness, which then produces just the opposite of rest; sleepless nights, headaches, stress and physical issues.
The Bible says when Christ died we died with Him and were buried and resurrected with Him. We are now seated with Him in the heavens. So what does that mean? How can we be seated with Him when we’re here on earth?
We are spirits and we live in a physical body. Physically we are here on earth, but at the same time we are spiritually seated with Him. That means that we can actively enjoy the benefits of the finished work of Christ. Jesus died so we can enjoy righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit now, not just in heaven. We can enter into His rest no matter what is going on around us.
Have you entered into rest? Or are you trying to work it all out in and of yourself? Maybe it’s time to sit down and take a load off; not physically, but spiritually. Go about your day, trusting God to do what only He can do, all the while remain seated in Christ. He is our Refuge, our Shelter and our Rest.
Strive to enter into rest today. Release all your frustration, anxiety and worry on Him for He cares for you. Take a seat, in Christ!
Declaration to Life: I am raised up together with Christ and am seated down with Him. I am resting in Him, trusting Him to take care of that which concerns me.
