BE SEPARATE

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

Those who have the Holy Spirit in them should be different from those who do not.

Ephesians 4:30 says, “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” To seal something means to secure and confirm a bond, to give approval of, to endorse and make it forever binding.

This is what Jesus did for us when He gave us the Holy Spirit. When you received Jesus, He gave you the Holy Spirit to live in you as a seal that confirms and secures that bond between you and God; its forever binding. The Spirit of God is forever committed to live on the inside of you! Isn’t that the coolest?!

However, the Holy Spirit only manifests Himself in your life, as you give place to Him. Why restrain Him from doing what He wants to do in you? Why keep Him a secret from others? He is the one who manifests love, joy, peace and power so why suppress that? We grieve Him when we don’t allow Him access into our lives.

We also grieve the Holy Spirit when we think, say or do things that are not holy the way He is holy. When we commit sin, such as when we choose not to forgive another – the Holy Spirit is grieved. Just as a parent would grieve when one of their children refuse to forgive another one of their children, we grieve the Holy Spirit.

However, if we are led by the Spirit in all things, we will not grieve Him. The Holy Spirit will always lead us to become more like Jesus. We can’t do that without His help. Our flesh left to its own devices and way will be in opposition to the Spirit inside of us. “The flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. (Galatians 5:17). Either we are submitting to God and the leading of the Spirit or we aren’t.

In order for others to see the beauty of God’s Spirit inside of us and moving through us, we have to separate ourselves from things that are not God. We must separate ourselves from sin, the unholy enticement of the world, traps and plans of the evil one, temptation, failures of the past, pride, or from anything that draws us away from God.

You have a choice to choose the way you are going to live. Will you come out and be separate or will you grieve the Holy Spirit?



Declaration to Life: Holy Spirit, lead me away from all things that are not holy. Lead me away from all sin and any place that I might be missing the high mark God has for me. I ask you to rule and reign on the throne of my heart today!
