HIS PROMISES ARE EXCEEDINGLY GREAT

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,  as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,  by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:1-4

(This week’s Boost is part of a weeklong devotion series that Pastor Tim Scarbrough recently sent out to his congregation based on a message Larry preached in his church.)

Peter writes that God’s divine power has given believers everything needed for life and godliness. He also goes on to tell us that the promises available to every believer are exceedingly great and precious.

Notice Peter didn’t say that grace and peace would be added to you. He said, multiplied! There is a significant difference between addition and multiplication.

God isn’t in the business of giving you just enough to get by and survive; His divine power has already provided everything you need for life and godliness. The promises He has made are not ordinary promises. They are exceedingly great and they are precious. Something precious is worth guarding, worth meditating on, worth telling others about.

The problem is never on Gods end. He has already given all that we need. The challenge is on the receiving end.

Many believers hold out a small cup when God is pouring out a river!

Today, I challenge you to broaden your capacity to receive what He has already made available to you. Stop treating the promises of God as distant possibilities and start treating then as present realities.

Are you approaching God’s promises with expectation or hesitiation?

What promise of God have you allowed to stay on the pages of your Bible without ever applying it to your life?

Get the promises off the page. Write one out specific to your need and read it out loud at least three times today. Let faith arise by hearing the powerful Word of God!

Declaration to Life: His divine power has given to me all things that pertain to life and godliness! I will expand my capacity to receive the great and precious promises that belong to me as a child of God!
