COMPARISON TRAP
But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor. Gal. 6:4 AMPC
All of us struggle with feelings of insecurity, inferiority or self doubt from time to time. This is especially true when we start comparing ourselves to others.
We seem to be so dissatisfied with whom we are and along with that dissatisfaction come the lies of thinking that our lives would be so much better if we were anyone or anything else and these lies fog our minds from seeing clearly.
We feel that we aren’t as good looking as someone else, or as happy, smart, talented, spiritual, creative, or fit. Instead of rejoicing in who God made us to be and pursuing His purpose for our lives, we focus on our limitations and everyone else’s strengths.
Why is it so easy to forget that God made each of us unique, special and perfectly fitted for His purpose? When we spend all of our time looking at how others have been shaped and molded we will never be able to do the work God has purposed for us to do!
The Comparison trap is paralyzing and there is way too much of it in the body of Christ. We need less comparing and more honoring. When we constantly compare who we are against others in our lives, ministry, family or work, no one wins except the enemy!
It is so hard to know who you are if you are too busy looking at who you are not and who everyone else is. You must know who you are in the journey called life if you are going to walk and not faint. Look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of time, because the days are evil. Gal 5:15-16.
When you discover who you are in Christ and what He has uniquely fashioned for you to do, you will be better doing it than anyone else could ever be! Why waste your time trying to be someone else? Everyone else is already taken, so you be you and determine to be the best you God has made you to be!
Declaration to Life: I will determine today to be the best me God has created and to do the best that He has called me to do!
