IT IS FINISHED

He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30

“IT IS FINISHED” The most impactful, significant words ever spoken by anyone ever; the single most important statement in all of human history.

For two thousand years, people have written and talked about the life and death of Jesus more than any other man who has ever lived and died. The thing on which He died; the Cross, has become a symbol hung around necks and in homes, put on churches and in yards. His death meant everything for you and me!

Tetelestai – IT IS FINISHED, the last words spoken by Jesus before He gave up his last breath, mean “paid in full.” These words were a stake driven into all eternity, which still stands today, and the kingdom of darkness has no power against it!

The Cross is so important because without the Cross-the death of Jesus there could be no tomb-resurrection. No Savior holding the keys to death and hell. No Alpha and Omega. The Cross is the sole basis for Gods total provision for us. Everything He did, does, and will do for us and in us, He does through the Cross; the shed blood of His Son.

In Romans 8:32, Paul told the Romans, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”  With and through Jesus the Father gives us all things and the first thing on the list was a path back to Him.

While “it is finished” He is not! It’s not an end, but the beginning of our restoration, freedom and eternal life! Jesus’ work on the Cross was perfect and absolutely complete! He continues to work in and through us! What we could never do in our own strength, Jesus did in full! Hallelujah!

The Cross is the basis of Jesus’ total and absolute defeat of the enemy and his kingdom. Satan had no response then and he has no response now. His defeat was and still remains complete. And while satan has no response to Good Friday, he has continued to work at downplaying what happened that day. He tries to obscure the work of the Cross; to get our focus on something else - To cause an indifference to Jesus’ death.

We must be reminded, to see like we’re seeing for the first time, what the Cross has done in us and for us. Not just once but again and again and again. We need to remember where He was, how He got there, and what His presence accomplished in us and then celebrate where He is not – there is an empty tomb!

Father God delivered His son to the cross, on a rescue mission for you and for me and in return, the Cross became the symbol of our deliverance and the enemies defeat!  If this was to really sink into our hearts, it should change us to be more like Him! It should shake us and the things loose in us that hold us back.

Declaration to Life: I will allow the blood of Jesus, which flows from the Cross, to do for the first time, tenth time, and thousandth time what only the blood can do. I will cling to the Cross. It’s the place where I die daily!  I have been crucified with Christ. And I now live! Thank you Jesus there is an empty tomb!
