BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – PART TWO
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4
Speaking in tongues is a summons to experience the power of a Person – the Holy Spirit. Jesus refers to it as the “promise of the Father.” (Acts 1:4) because it is deeply based on Son-ship.
When you ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you step into a new spiritual experience that is firmly grounded in making surrender much easier. You surrender your spirit man, your whole self, your voice, your breath and your tongue, to allow Him to immerse you with His power.
People receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit in different ways. Some receive spontaneously without too much trying, others have hands laid on them at an altar and others are all by themselves at home or in their car and receive \on their own.
God is a creative God and there is no right or wrong way to receive your heavenly language, but people tend to get very confused about how to receive. So I thought I’d share some steps to help you to receive or lead others to receive:
1. You must believe in Jesus – The only requirement to receive the baptism is you have to be born again and once you are, you don’t have to wait to receive your prayer language.
2. Just ask – The Word encourages us to ask for the Holy Spirit to baptize us. You don’t have to be perfect and you don’t even have to beg. All you must be is eager to receive and He is even more eager to gift you your spiritual language. Simply ask by faith and then receive. (Luke 11:9-10)
3. Speak in tongues – The Holy Spirit does not force you to speak in tongues. Instead, you give breath and speak out loud the words that bubble up from your spirit. They flow like a river from the inside of you. Some may speak one syllable and others a few words. Continue to speak whatever you receive over and over until they develop into more. It might sounds like babbling, like a baby would sound, but as you engage daily in this gift it will develop in you, and there will emerge a beautiful communion of words between you and your heavenly Father.
Declaration to Life – Holy Spirit, my prayer language becomes the gateway to Your manifest presence. Fill me now!
