AN OPEN HAND

So I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.” Psalm 63:4

I love worshiping the Lord. One of the most effective ways for me to do that personally is to lift up my hands towards heaven as an act of surrender, and adoration to Him who deserves all of my heart and worship.

I realize some aren’t comfortable raising their hands in worship to the Lord. I’ve been there, but through time I’ve come to realize that those who have been forgiven much have so much to praise God for and that the depths of my praise come from the depths of my gratitude. I’m so full of gratitude to my Heavenly Father that I can’t help but raise my hands to Him in praise.

The lifting of our hands in praise to God has such significance.

The word for hand in the original language is the word, YAD.

The word, YAD comes from the word YADAH, which means to praise, give thanks and to worship. The word, YAD goes a little further. It means hand, but more detailed, it means “open hand.”

What does all this have to do with me? The hand of a worshipper is an open hand. The hand of one who praises is an open hand. The hand of someone who is thankful is an open hand. So to live a life of praise and thanksgiving is to live a life of an open hand.

An open hand is the only way to receive blessings from heaven. Which tells me that the more you live your life in praise, worship and thanksgiving, the more your life will become an open hand to receive the blessings from Father.

The more you praise without condition- lifting your hands up towards heaven in total abandon and surrender to God, the more you will have to praise and give thanks for.

So I encourage you to lift up your open hand to the Lord and praise Him with your whole heart. Open your life to blessings through the power of the YAD.

Declaration to Life: Lord, I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name!
