JESUS: THE IMAGE OF THE FATHER

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Colossians 1:13-15



If you asked a dozen people from all walks of life the question, “What is God like?” you would get all kinds of answers. The world has a warped idea of what God is like.

I was watching a movie recently and one of the main characters looked up towards heaven and screamed, “Do you think this is a good way to take care of me God? You have a funny way of showing me you love me by making all these bad things happen to me.” I cringed when she said it, because that is not the nature of God.

People often think God is the one causing all of their problems. Or he is sitting up in heaven ready to hit them on the head if they make a mistake. That’s not truth!

If you want to know what God really looks like all you have to do is read the Gospels. Read about Jesus, because Jesus gives us a picture of God. Scripture tells us that Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

Jesus said in John 14:9, “If you have seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” And in John 15:19, He says, “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do…”

So if we follow Jesus’ earthly ministry, we will see God’s will in action. Jesus led a perfect, sinless life. Jesus never stole from anyone or killed anyone. He didn’t destroy anyone’s life. He saved, healed and set people free. He was moved with compassion and loved even the most unlovable. 

Jesus perfectly reveals and embodies the nature and character of God from His actions to His words. When we understand who Jesus is and what He did, it allows us to grasp who God is and how He relates to us.

God wants you saved, healed, delivered, and walking in freedom, prosperous in every area of your life, full of love, joy and living the blessed life! That is His nature and character! Jesus went about doing good and God is good!

Declaration to Life: All that I see Jesus do in the Word is God’s will for me! Let your will be done Lord!
