NEW CLOTHES

Then [the guiding angel] showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at Joshua’s right hand to be his adversary and to accuse him. And the Lord said to Satan, The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! Even the Lord, Who [now and habitually] chooses Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this [returned captive Joshua] a brand plucked out of the fire? Zechariah 3:1-2

Joshua is a man of God who is standing in the presence of God but someone else is also standing there. The enemy; Joshua’s adversary!

That same enemy that was Joshua’s adversary is also ours. We don’t just breeze through life without an adversary. The devil is still roaring like a lion and walking around seeking someone to devour. We are to withstand him by being firm in our faith (our believing & speaking). (1 Pt. 5:8-9)

There is an enemy and he is after your life. He is called the accuser of the brethren. He will stand there and try and accuse you just like he did with Joshua. He can bring a whole list of things to get you under guilt and condemnation. If he can get you under condemnation he can cheat you out of your inheritance and what belongs to you in Christ.

The devil thought he had Joshua, but God rebuked the enemy and said, “Hold it devil, I have chosen him, I have a plan and he belongs to me!” And He did the same for us! We were in the fire, but God and pulled us out!

Then Zechariah goes on to say in verse 3-4 that Joshua was clothed with filthy clothes as he stood in God’s presence. They were clothes from the effect of sin. But God said, “Take away those filthy garments and clothe him with rich apparel.”

The devil had been stopped but Joshua still had those filthy clothes on. We are the same way. We say yes to Jesus but we still walk in oppression, guilt, fear and shame. Once we put on the new man, then we can wear righteousness, joy, confidence, blessing and glory!

The Bible says we are clothed in clothes like: A robe of righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21), a garment of praise (Isaiah 61:3), the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49), humility (1 Peter 5:5) and the glory or the presence of God (Psalm 8:5). When we are in the presence of God we will then wear the glory of God on our countenance and we will walk like a child of God.

God wants to dress you up in new rich clothes just like He did Joshua. God wants you prosperous in all He has for you!

Then God went on to tell Joshua in Zechariah 3:5-7 that if he would walk in the light of what God was telling him and if he would live in reality of who God says he was and what God did for him then He would have new places to walk.

God is saying the same thing to us today. He has new places for us to walk. Places we haven’t been before in Christ but before we can go there we must acknowledge and declare that what God has for us is ours!

It’s time to put on some new clothes!

Declaration to Life: I am who God says I am. I have what God says I have. I’m doing some walking right now. I am walking in joy, strength and healing that is mine. I posses new clothes; new places of understanding, new revelation, new authority, new boldness, new places in prayer, glory and anointing are all mine.
