Updates & Announcements from Methodist Temple

Noisy Offering With a Twist

This Sunday during Noisy Offering, our Temple Kidz will be collecting candy for Trunks of Treats! Rather than your coins, please bring in bags of individually wrapped candy. You can also drop off your bags of candy outside of the church office!

Temple Kidz, Temple Youth, and the Scouting ministries are partnering to bring you Trucks of Treats on Friday, October 11th from 6:00-7:30pm in our parking lot. This event brings multiple ministries of our church together to serve our local community!

How can you join the fun?

1) Donate candy during Noisy Offering on Sept. 29th (or drop off outside church office)

2) Volunteer at or decorate your vehicles for the event (register HERE)

3) Dress up and attend the event

4) Pray that those volunteering and attending have a wonderful experience where they

can feel God's love!

This is such a great outreach ministry of our church and we would love to see you involved! Reach out to the church office at 812-476-1306 with questions.

Children's Center Amazon Wish List

Our Methodist Temple Children's Center will be throwing a Costume Party in October! To ensure this is the best day for the kids of The Center, we asked they share their needs with our congregation. If you're interested in helping out, click here to view their Amazon Wish List!

Scout Popcorn Sales

Methodist Temple's Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will have a popcorn sales table in Fellowship Hall from 9:30am to 11:00am on Sunday mornings through October 27. The popcorn sales proceeds really help to fund our programs during the year!

September Missional Partner

This month's missional partner is the YWCA Evansville! YWCA Evansville is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. They provide direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity. Visit their website here and watch the video below to see how you can get involved!

Methodist Temple Columbarium

The Methodist Temple Board of Trustees is gauging interest in building a second Columbarium tower. The Trustees are requesting the congregation to express interest via deposits toward the purchase of their own niche. If you are interested in having a niche, please contact the church office to submit a $100 deposit before the end of the year. If there are 20 deposits by year end, then the Trustees will start the process of building a second tower. The total cost per niche is expected to be approximately $1000. In order to retain your niche you would need to pay the balance due once the tower is built. If we do not get 20 deposits by year end, your deposit will be returned to you and we will discontinue consideration of a second tower.

What is a Columbarium?

A columbarium is a structure with niches for funeral urns to be stored. The columbarium at Methodist Temple is the large stone structure in the memory garden to the west of the sanctuary that has brass drawers called niches. These niches contain the cremated remains of members of our church. The first tower of 84 niches was built in 2004 and all niches have been sold. There are foundations and space for two more Columbarium towers at Methodist Temple.
