North Georgia United Methodists are invited to attend one of six regional gatherings with Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson this fall. Clergy and laity may attend the session that is most convenient. The gatherings will include timely updates on this season in our denomination and our continuing United Methodist witness for Christ in North Georgia.

HARRIET TUBMAN MUSEUM TOUR



Join Central's History and Archives Committee on a tour of the Harriet Tubman Museum in Macon, GA. on Tuesday, October 11th.


*Please arrive at the Museum no later than 9:45 am.

*Travel to Macon ( on your own, carpools are encourage)

*The Museum tour and African Drumming Class will be paid by the History & Archives Committee.

WATER CRISIS IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI


Due to the recent flooding that has taken place in Jackson, Mississippi, the residents of the city are experiencing a severe water crisis. For Health Reasons Water Use Is Restricted!!!


One of our members, Antoine LaVar Thompson, is a former resident of Jackson. He is asking for your help! You can give cases of bottled water that he will deliver to Jackson. Call or text him at 601-918-1650.


You can also help by giving a monetary donation. For monetary donations, you may write a check or text you donation to Central UMC and designate for Anderson UMC. 



Deadline for donations of water and money is Sunday, September 25th

POSITION: FINANCIAL SECRETARY (Contract)


  POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in business, accounting, or an equivalent degree/experience
  • Minimum of two years experience as a bookkeeper or accountant in a business setting or church related environment
  • Two years of experience with computer accounting required
  • Demonstrate familiarity with all accounting principles including payroll, accounts payable, charts of accounts, double entry bookkeeping, revenue/expense statements and balance sheets
  • Possess knowledge of various data management software packages


  WORKING HOURS

     This contract position does not exceed 20 hours/week.

LAY SERVANT MINISTRIES 


Persons interested in joining the Lay Servant Ministry, the BASIC Class is now being offered. One class will be a Zoom class, the remainder are in person. BASIC requires the Pastor's approval and is the prerequisite for all advanced classes. Birch, a devoted member of Central UMC and the husband of Mrs. Doris Buster - Birch, passed on Wednesday, September 14th. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23rd from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Murray Brothers Funeral Home, 1199 Utoy Springs Rd. SW, Atlanta, GA.
