FUMC Youth Attend BigStuf

BigStuf is a ministry-based summer camp for high school students in Panama City Beach, FL, with a 30-year history. The events at BigStuf are designed to do two things: point students to Jesus, and help them grow in community. Additionally, leaders at BigStuf partner with youth pastors to help the journey continue after they leave. Each year the group comes home with a greater love for God, which they pass on to their friends and family as well as younger youth and adult youth leaders. This year the following youth attended the June 21-25 session: Caroline Carter, Reynolds Cobb, David Daughtry, William Daughtry, Cooper Epps, Davis Epps, Adam Everett, Chandler Lamm, Matthew Mangano, Christian Sawyer, Jillian Schrimper, Darcy Tyndall, and Andrew Williams. The chaperones were Kevin Boudreau, Jill Everett, and Daniel Mullens.
Sunday, July 11, 2021

Our worship service will begin at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary on Sunday, July 11, 2021. The scripture lessons are Ephesians 1:3-14 and Mark 6:14-29.

We will continue to wear masks, so that we can have congregational singing in a way that is safe. Children wearing masks will come forward for the children’s sermon.

There are two entrances open at the rear of the sanctuary: Sunset Avenue and the ramp door under the steeple into the narthex (along Church Street).
Parking is available in the gravel lot south of the church, adjacent to Bulluck Furniture Company.

The flowers on the Sanctuary altar this Sunday are given to the glory of God and in honor of our children and grandchildren, Jason, Karen, Kylie and Mackenzie and in memory of Stephen Ray “Steve” Pernell by Sandy Pernell.

All worship services will be livestreamed at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays on
Horizon/William Whitehead Sunday School Class

The Horizons/William Whitehead Sunday School class
will meet this Sunday, July 11, at 8:45 a.m. in the annex.

Welcome Reception

A welcome reception for Rev. David Joyner and his family will be held Sunday, July 18, under the portico following the worship service. SPRC hopes that the congregation will be able to stop by, introduce themselves and welcome our new lead pastor and his family to First United Methodist Church.

Greetings from El Salvador!

Hello Friends at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount!

Greetings from El Salvador!

Oh…The Lord is good to me and so I thank the Lord for giving me the things I need: the sun and the rain and the apple seed. The Lord is good to me! AMEN!

I learned this song as a young camper at Camp Don Lee in Arapahoe, North Carolina and still sing it regularly as a praise to the Lord for all the ways that He provides for me and my family. God has been very good to me and my family since my last update. He provides for us in so many ways each day. I especially love experiencing the warmth of Jesus' love through the students at the Methodist School.

I pray this update finds you well and with a long list of praises for God’s provisions in your life. I’m so thankful for the ways I see Him at work here in Ahuachapan, El Salvador, and all around the world through the connections within the body of the church family.

Online Giving

Did you know that one-third of our congregation gives electronically? And the majority of those who give electronically have chosen to maximize their impact by setting up a recurring donation which automates their gift to give on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. We give thanks for your continued support and for sharing the love of Christ to others during this time of great need.

To set-up your recurring gift, or to give a one-time gift, visit our website at fumcrm.org/give; give via our church app (see below how to download); or by sending your check to:
