Wow! Somehow, we're already halfway through the year.
Before the second half of 2026 starts filling up with meetings, projects, and deadlines, pause and look at what has already happened. Don't just think about what's unfinished or still needs attention. What have you already accomplished this year? This can be in your personal and professional life; both are important.
At RebelWELL, I'm doing the same mid-year check-in. Two years ago, UNLV didn't have a centralized wellness program for faculty and staff. RebelWELL has grown by listening to employees, trying new ideas, adjusting, and trying again. This year, more employees are joining weekly resets, completing wellness challenges, and coming back for more. I am proud of that. It tells me wellness is becoming a more visible part of how we support the people who support this campus.
Take a look at how far you've come this year, and give yourself the kudos you would give a colleague or a friend. Notice what helped you get this far and what drained more energy than it should have (take steps to change those things). Next, look at the goals that are still on the horizon and decide what, if anything, needs to change to help you get there.
There is still a lot of year left. Take a second to give yourself credit for what you've done so far, and then move into the next half of 2026 with more clarity and intention, and as always, with our support.

| | BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month | |
July is Black, Indigenous, & People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Awareness Month. This monthly observance aims to address disparities in mental health care access and outcomes. It draws attention to the specific challenges BIPOC communities experience and emphasizes the need for intentional action and support.
Mental health is shaped by many factors, including culture, community, identity, workplace experiences, access to care, and more. At UNLV, supporting mental well-being means recognizing challenges, providing resources, and helping create a campus environment where employees are respected and can access support.

Social wellness is part of a healthy workplace. This month, employees are encouraged to build and maintain the relationships that support collaboration, belonging, and well-being at work and at home. These relationships strengthen trust and reduce isolation, contributing overall to a more-connected work environment.
Check out the social wellness resources and events below.

Affinity Groups
Affinity Groups bring together employees who share identities, roles, or interests to build community, support wellbeing, and advance inclusion. These groups are employee-led and institutionally recognized. They contribute to a welcoming campus climate, professional networking, and a sense of belonging for faculty and staff.
There are currently 12 affinity groups on campus, and they are open to all UNLV employees. To find your group or get more information, see the Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups webpage.
