Dear Alexander,

This week, I stood for middle class tax cuts, like no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security, plus increasing the standard deduction and Child Tax Credit. However, I won’t stand for record cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and nutrition programs, or adding $5 trillion to the national debt, just to support massive tax cuts for billionaires. This Big, Ugly Bill will hurt kids, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and so many other Central Florida families. That’s why I voted NO.

We also re-introduced our Protect Patriot Spouses Act to support military spouses facing unjust deportations. I was proud to stand with Rep. Carbajal & Rep. Lou Correa in a press conference highlighting our efforts to keep military families together.

Additionally, we discussed the Energy Star program in Energy and Commerce that has provided energy efficiency certifications for appliances since 1992. It has helped save 5 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity & $500 billion in energy costs.

Furthermore, we hosted our CHCI's Health Summit, where I joined Representative Raul Ruiz to discuss the future of health policy and its effects on Latino communities. We are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of our constituents.

In the district, we attended the Puerto Rican Summit to discuss and learn about how to cultivate economic empowerment through small business growth, education, trade and civic engagement. We are grateful to have had the chance to meet with the leaders, entrepreneurs, and educators driving this progress.

I'm proud and optimistic about our efforts this week and look forward to returning to the district next week to fight for our Central Florida community.

Poll of the Week

Do you support keeping military families together?

Holding President Trump Accountable

This week, I voted against the Big Ugly Bill that slashes $500 billion from Medicare, $720 billion in Medicaid cuts, and $340 billion in nutrition assistance, all while adding $5 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Our nation could have a true middle class tax package if we simple roll back major tax cuts for billionaires that we can’t afford.

President Trump has taken corruption to new heights by accepting a $400 million luxury plane from Qatar. He’s also raking in millions of dollars from foreign nationals who are buying cryptocurrency tied to the Trump family, all for the chance to dine with the President. Meanwhile, he is asking Americans to cut back on their purchases due to rising prices caused by his harmful tariffs. I will take every opportunity to hold him and his administration accountable for this blatant corruption.

Re-Introduce Protect Patriot Spouses Act

This week, we re-introduced our Protect Patriot Spouses Act to support military spouses facing unjust deportations. I was proud to stand with Rep. Carbajal & Rep. Lou Correa in a press conference highlighting our efforts to keep military families together.

Voting NO on the Big Ugly Bill

Democrats stand for middle class tax cuts. What we won’t stand for is record Medicaid, Medicare, and nutrition CUTS, just to mostly fund billionaire tax cuts and add $5 trillion to the national debt. I voted NO on the Big Ugly Bill.

Defending the Energy Star Program

The Energy Star program has provided energy efficiency certifications for appliances since 1992. It has helped save 5 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity & $500 billion in energy costs. I am fighting to preserve this program to lower costs, promote innovation and protect our environment.

Developing Artificial Intelligence Consumer Protections

AI is a critical part of the U.S.’s leadership & economic success. However, there’s a pressing need for thoughtful regulation to ensure it is developed & used responsibly. At the Energy Commerce Committee, we’re committed to protecting consumers, especially our children— and keeping the U.S. ahead in AI innovation.

Hosting Hispanic Health Summit

During our CHCI's Health Summit, I joined Representative Raul Ruiz to discuss the future of health policy and its effects on the Hispanic community. We are dedicated to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our constituents.

Remembering Rep. Gerry Connolly

Gerry was my dear friend. He was quick-witted, knowledgeable, funny, and always there to lend some advice. He leaves an incredible legacy of standing up for federal workers, conducting fierce oversight, protecting the environment, and so much more.

Rest in peace my friend.

PACT Act Resources for Veterans

Toxic-exposed veterans in Central Florida deserve to access all their rightfully earned benefits without issue.

For more information, visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-698-2411.

There has been an increase in PACT Act-related email, phone, and social media scams targeting veterans by offering to submit claims on their behalf. Click here to learn more.

Emergency Mental Health Care for Veterans

Veterans can receive no-cost emergency mental health care at VA or non-VA healthcare facilities. Veterans can use this benefit whether or not they are enrolled in the VA system. This policy will save lives.
