Middle Gate is proud to participate in Newtown Public's School collection campaign to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Pennies for Patients" campaign over the next few weeks. Students will be asked to collect spare change to donate in collection jars in the classroom. Stuffed Animal and Basket Donations Needed
 
Gently used (or new) stuffed animals, baskets. Women Involved in Newtown (WIN) will be assembling Easter baskets and distributing to needy children in town and the surrounding area. Mandy Monaco will be placing a collection box by security starting in February and collect donations until mid-March!

PROFESSIONALS NEEDED FOR MIX IT UP DAY - FRI FEB 23MixUP
HEY PROFESSIONALS!!
 
Our next Mix-It-Up day is scheduled for February 23rd.
Middle Gate would like the kids to learn about different careers! We are looking for parents, friends and family who would be interested in coming in during the slotted lunch times to sit with a small group of kids and describe what your day-to-day job is like and then answer any questions they may have.  
 
You can sign up for as many lunches as you want (1 lunch, 5 lunches... up to you!). Please let us know what career you will be talking about in the comments area. The lunch schedule is:

Kindergarten 11:00 to 11:30
2nd Grade 11:35 to 12:05
4th Grade 12:10 to 12:40
3rd Grade 12:45 to 1:15
1st Grade 1:20 to 1:50

J oin us for a fun night of getting dressed up in 50's attire and dancing to the sounds of DJ Red Supreme Productions!
 
ADMISSION: $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.

REGISTRATION: deadline is February 16th or sell out, whichever occurs first. Tickets will not be available at the door for this event.
 
FOOD: Pizza, ice cream and snacks will be available for purchase.
 
Please fill out the form below and send it back to school along with your payment (cash or check made out to Middle Gate PTA) in an envelope marked 'SOCK HOP'. All MG students, parents and siblings and friends are welcome.

FOURTH GRADE DIVERSITY DAY - FRI MAR 9Diversity
4th Grade Diversity Day - Parent Volunteers Needed!
Friday March 9 from 9:00am - 12:00pm
Diversity Dayis a dynamic educational event where 4th graders visit a range of different interactive stations to "walk a mile in someone else's shoes". The aim of this day to gain a better awareness of the challenges people with disabilities face every day while encouraging understanding, empathy, and kindness. Parent volunteers run each station, helping students understand and appreciate our differences. You will be trained the morning of the event.   ALL grade level parents can help. (If you are a 4th grade parent, this is one of the last great events for your 4th grader that you can help with!)

NEWTOWN NIGHTHAWK CHALLENGE - SUN MAR 11Hawk
Newtown Nighthawks Challenge - An indoor obstacle course competition!   
March 11 - Newtown High School image

On March 11th 12-2pm at Newtown High School, come cheer on teams of Newtown High School Students as well as Teachers and Faculty across Newtown Public Schools and the Board of Education.  Fun, food, and refreshments will be served. 

The Newtown High School PTSA suggests a $1 minimum donation per attendee (children 6 and under free).

Hey friends! Below is the save the date for our largest fundraiser of the year. It should have come home in backpacks last week. It is going to be a lot of fun and we hope you are all there. Mark the date and get your sitters!

Community sponsorships and silent auction soliciting is well under way but we still need more and your help!

SAVE THE DATE for Middle Gate Madness and our 2nd Talent Show!
Friday, May 18th from 5:00-8:00 pm.
Middle Gate Madness, one of our largest fundraisers, is an evening of fun for the entire family! There are games, hands-on activities, touch-a-truck, a dunk tank with some familiar faces, food and more!! Last year we introduced our first talent show to Middle Gate Madness which featured our very own children (along with some parents) and, WOW, what talent! There were solos, duets and small groups performing acts like dance, music, skateboard tricks and magic to name a few! It was such a special addition to this extraordinary night that we are doing it again. So, start brainstorming!! Forms for sign up will be coming out before April break.
