Finding Balance and Flexibility in Mindful Parenting

Our children and our families are probably the most precious beings in our lives, yet they can also be at the root of our biggest struggles. It's not easy being a parent, and parenting COVID-style presents its own unique challenges.

On top of parents' concerns for taking care of our families, helping our children with online schooling, and getting our own work done, we're all facing uncertainty for what this winter will bring, which can add to our anxiety. This is where mindfulness can step in to help us find a little more balance and create a little more flexibility in our lives.

Our 3-week Mindful Parenting series, "Presence, Not Perfection," explores how we can apply mindfulness and mindful self-compassion to bring more ease and calm into our lives. We offer live classes via Zoom, or recorded versions that can be watched at your convenience.

The classes have been designed with the busy parent in mind and provide in-class time for reflection, along with practices that fit into your daily life.

Finally, free virtual drop-ins for teens continue every Monday, and a new series of mindfulness classes for middle schoolers starts next week!

I hope you can join me this November!

With deep gratitude,

Cheryl Blackington

Middle School is an incredibly challenging time for teens and their families. Teens' bodies and minds are growing and changing remarkably fast. It's often hard to keep up with these changes, and easy for kids this age to feel emotional, very critical of themselves and their body images, and to have struggles with friendships. It is not an easy time. Mindfulness will give them the knowledge and skills to help them through their day.

Many teens find it helpful to take the class several times. It's helpful to have the support of the teacher and the students in the class as we learn these important life skills.

Parenting is hard! And yet, we do the best we can, working with what we’ve picked up along the way. Cultivating the skills of mindful parenting can help us take a step back, see the bigger picture, and get in touch with our inherent wisdom. These skills give us the confidence we need to parent effectively, even when it gets tough.

While developed specifically for parents, this interactive, experiential class is appropriate for grandparents, foster parents, and others in caregiving roles to children of all ages

Instructor: Cheryl Blackington M.Ed. Certified Mindfulness Instructor

Cheryl has been learning and practicing mindfulness for the past nine years. She passionately believes that all people deserve the life giving skills of mindfulness!
