Dear Middle School Families,

Please read below an announcement from choir director Amy Brooks about her additional role and responsibilities in our Middle School as a school counseling intern. I will be partnering with her in this role as she begins to work with our middle-schoolers individually and in affinity spaces. The middle school faculty is thrilled to have her serve our students in this capacity. Please join us in welcoming her.

If you have any questions regarding any of the middle school counseling initiatives or support services, feel free to contact me anytime.

Sincerely,

Shekyra DeCree, LPCC-S
Middle School Counselor

Dear Middle School Families,

Many of you know me as the school’s choir director, a position I have held at Columbus Academy since 2005. I adore making music with the middle school students and am excited to continue that adventure this year. In addition to directing the middle school and upper school choirs, this year I will also be serving Academy as a school counseling intern. I am completing a master’s degree in school counseling through the University of Dayton, and I am honored to be working with Ms. DeCree.

With the guidance and leadership of the counseling faculty, I will be available to meet with students at school and on doxy.me, a confidential telehealth platform. Managing stress and anxiety is an area of specific interest for me as well as supporting and fostering the mental health and well-being of students. I am so excited to be here to support your children in their academic growth, social emotional learning and their future goals. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I am looking forward to a great year!

Sincerely,
Choir Director and School Counseling Intern
