Dear Middle School Families,

The next three weeks will be busy in middle school as exams approach, knowing we may have to adjust our schedule based on the changing COVID-19 landscape in the community. Upon returning to school, please follow state and local guidelines for quarantining if you traveled out of state.

Schedule

The schedule for the next three weeks is below. Exams for Grades 7-8 will begin in the afternoon on Monday, December 14th, which will be a full school day ending at 3:20 p.m. Sixth-graders do not take exams but will be in school participating on a modified schedule each day. Tuesday and Wednesday of that week will be half-days with all students coming to school for exams only. Thursday, December 17th, is an exam makeup day. Please consider sending your children to school if possible to take their exams in person each day or on the exam makeup day. It is ideal to take exams in person, but not required, and they will be administered electronically according to each teacher’s plan. I recognize that each family has made decisions regarding in-person learning and would be happy to discuss this with you.

We want exams to be secure and expect students to maintain the utmost integrity when taking them. Teachers have been thoughtful about operating their courses to the benefit of all students throughout the year, and we would like to make sure the process of taking exams does not compromise that. The order and times of exams will be shared with students by team leaders this week and then posted to the MS Google Classroom page as well as individual class pages.

Lunches

Thank you for submitting your lunch orders for this upcoming week. If you forgot to choose a lunch, simply email Nicola Jackson in the middle school office at jacksonn@columbusacademy.org. On this coming Thursday, I will send out a link for the week of December 7th.

Thank you for cooperation and partnership with the school. I hope you had a safe and restful break, and I look forward to our collective experience as we look toward the winter break and the end of another calendar year.

Be well,

Head of Middle School
