Perrin's Preview

Dear MSY families,

To read another person's faith statement can be powerful. It has the potential to challenge core beliefs, hold space for doubts, and creatively share Gospel-centered truths. Recently, a friend of mine accepted a new call and his faith statement resurfaced. The whole thing is compelling but one piece is particularly intriguing. Amos wrote, "... we are transformed and extended the grace to live as if the Kingdom of God were already here; loving one another completely and redefining community, finding fulfillment in God alone and redefining success, sharing our gifts freely and redefining power. The Kingdom is coming and is already here." A clear reminder that God extended an invitation for us to experience the Kingdom of God, not alone but together as the Church and together as a Covenant community. Let's continue journeying together as we try to follow Jesus.

Peace,
Perrin Tribble
Director of Middle School Ministry

Get Involved!

There are many ways to serve alongside the middle school youth!
  1. Sunday School teachers- we use an online sign up genius to choose the dates that are convenient. Each class needs at least one teacher and one shepherd each week.  Sign up here!
  2. Sunday Night Youth Fellowship- each Sunday evening we gather for dinner in the Fellowship Hall from 5:30-6:00 and then have programing from 6:00-7:00. We need other advisors to be present in the evenings. The programming varies each week as we try to rotate between recreation, bible study/small groups, service projects, and arts/spiritual practices
  3. Chaperones for retreats- For each overnight trip we need a minimum for two male chaperones and two female chaperones. The number of total chaperones increase with the number of youth participating. Appropriate youth to adult ratios are required in order for us to make these retreats possible.  It is a great way to invest in this community of youth and really get to know each of them!
  4. Logistics and Behind the Scenes- there is a lot of prep work that goes into weekly programming, retreat planning, and service projects. It is a huge blessing to have folks who want to serve but do not feel called to teach or chaperone.
