CALL FOR CO-DESIGN PARTICIPANTS: METHAMPHETAMINE PATHWAY

In partnership with the London Middlesex Mental Health and Addiction Strategic Direction Office and London Health Sciences Centre, the MLOHT is working on a project to develop care pathways for people who use methamphetamine or are at-risk of using methamphetamine.

We need your help. We are looking for people who interact directly or indirectly with people who use substances to join the co-design network to inform and guide the development. These care pathways will allow people who use methamphetamine to receive better care and not fall through the cracks.

The next co-design session is Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 2:00pm-3:30pm.

The purpose of the second session is to identify all of the activities that individuals need access to across the care continuum. We have identified a set of “always for everyone events,” or a minimum standard set of activities and will use this session to gather your feedback.

Please email Tanvin Juneja if you have any questions or would like more information.

ONTARIO HEALTH (OH) MEMO - INCREASED INVASIVE GROUP A STREPTOCOCCAL DISEASE (iGAS)

In Ontario, there has been an increase in Invasive Group A Streptococcal Disease (iGAS) cases, particularly among children under 18 and individuals aged 65 and older. While iGAS is relatively rare, it can progress rapidly and lead to severe complications such as toxic shock syndrome, sepsis, and necrotizing fasciitis. Those at higher risk include infants, pregnant/postpartum individuals, older adults, immunocompromised individuals, and those with recent viral infections.

Health care providers should promptly assess and treat patients with symptoms of non-invasive GAS infections. Health care providers should also ensure patients are up-to-date on immunizations, particularly for varicella and influenza. Prompt notification of iGAS cases and clusters to local public health units is advised. Ongoing monitoring and updates will be provided.

Please read the memo for more information.
