JOIN THE COPD INTEGRATED SERVICE CARE MODEL WORKING GROUP

Do you and your patients struggle with the lack of integration of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) resources across the system of care? 

 

Do you want to get involved in a working group to improve the services related to COPD patients through Middlesex London? If yes, reach out to Mariam Al-Azem.

 

The aim of the working group is to build an integrated service care model that ensures all services related to COPD are coordinated across the different levels and sites of care. It also means higher levels of collaboration and communication among health care professionals. The time commitment is approximately one hour bi-weekly.

METHAMPHETAMINE CARE PATHWAY GUIDING DOCUMENT 

Middlesex London faces a crisis with methamphetamine use, causing delays in support for individuals and overwhelming service providers. To address this, a clear care pathway for methamphetamine users is being developed, providing resources and support for better care. This guide explains why the pathway is needed, its components, and how to help those in it. This initiative aims to improve care and prevent people from falling through the cracks.

WEST MINI EXPO: ENHANCING HEALTHCARE THROUGH COMMMUNITY PARAMEDICINE

West Mini Expo: Enhancing Healthcare through Community Paramedicine is a virtual event organized by the Ontario Community Paramedicine Knowledge Exchange Committee and the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs, in collaboration with Western community paramedicine providers. 

 

The primary goal is to raise awareness and foster collaboration among healthcare service providers, with a special focus on the essential role of community paramedicine within the healthcare system.

IN THE KNOW: PALLIATIVE EDUCATION SERIES

The Palliative Pain & Symptom Management Consultation Program of St. Joseph’s Health Care would like to invite physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and all other health care providers who are interested in bolstering their palliative care knowledge to sign up for the In the Know: Palliative Education Series. The series runs virtually on zoom and the focus this year us on effective symptom management essentials. WEST REGION VIRTUAL PALLIATIVE CARE EDUCATION DAY

Join the inaugural West Region Virtual Palliative Care Education Day hosted by the Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultation Program, Southwestern Ontario, along with local palliative care physicians.


This event aims to provide evidence-based tools and resources to primary healthcare providers, empowering them to improve care for patients and families facing serious illness and palliative care needs. Participants will learn strategies for identifying patients who need palliative care, conducting essential conversations, and managing common symptoms.



While the target audience is Primary Care Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, all members of the Primary Care interdisciplinary team are encouraged to attend as a collaborative approach is key to palliative care success.

MCMASTER ON-LINE COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (CBT) TRAINING WORKSHOPS

McMaster University's Department of Psychiatry is offering virtual workshops and an online course to help people improve their CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) skills. The 7-week online course teaches the basics of CBT and is great for clinicians and learners who want to learn practical strategies. The one-day workshops focus on specific topics like depression, anxiety, insomnia, pain, and substance use. Led by experienced faculty, the workshops provide practical guidance and allow for interaction in small groups.

Anyone can register for the workshops, and there are no prerequisites required.
