MLPCN launches redesigned website

To better support primary care across our region, the MLPCN has redesigned its website to include up-to-date services and supports for your practice, patient resources, a regional events calendar, and a new members-only space with exclusive content.

Patient lead shielding in X-ray imaging discontinued

Effective immediately, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London have discontinued the use of lead shielding for patients during diagnostic X-rays. 

Based on improvements in imaging technology and scientific evidence - and bringing both locations in line with other hospitals around the world - the updated practice will apply to all patients, regardless of age, sex, or pregnancy status.

District Stroke Council seeks primary care representation

The District Stroke Council (DSC) for London, Middlesex, and Oxford is seeking at least one family physician or nurse practitioner to provide insight into stroke care from a primary care perspective.

The DSC brings together partners from acute care, rehabilitation, community services, EMS, and primary care to strengthen coordination, identify system gaps, align with provincial stroke standards, and share best practices. The time commitment is approximately 1–1.5 hours per quarter. If interested, email Jonathan.Lao@lhsc.on.ca.

Community Paramedicine Patient Care Standards update

An updated version of the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service (MLPS) Community Paramedicine Patient Care Standards is scheduled to be released March 1, as an amendment to the effective date of the current version. You can read about the changes in this MLPS memo.

Consulting family physician position with TVFHT

The Thames Valley Family Health Team is seeking a Consulting Family Physician to work virtually to provide consultation and collaborative support to London Interdisciplinary Primary Care Team Stand-Alone Clinic Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and teams serving unattached patients and patients attached to NPs as their most responsible provider.

Creating awareness for Health Care Connect

The MLPCN and the Middlesex London Ontario Health Team have jointly developed promotional materials to assist external organizations in supporting and promoting awareness of Health Care Connect (HCC) as the province works to get everyone in Ontario connected to a family physician or nurse practitioner.

We have added a Partner Toolkit on our website, which includes:

We encourage you to access our HCC Toolkit to help promote getting patients connected. 

Decommissioning of COVaxON

A reminder that the decommissioning of COVaxON will be effective Mar. 13. Panorama will be used to manage COVID-19 vaccine inventory and administration starting in April (specific date to be confirmed).

Doses administered during the transition period following Mar. 13 must be documented per professional standards of practice by the administering professional.
