Pandemic Preparedness Plan 

Western’s Department of Family Medicine is looking to hear from primary care providers regarding their experiences and lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important providers add their knowledge into a future Middlesex London region pandemic preparedness plan.

This is an online priority setting exercise (three rounds) that would take approximately 30 minutes in total over a few weeks. OMA Physician Health Program

The OMA Physician Health Program is offering an evidence-based self-compassion program for physicians. Facilitated by Dr. Bryan MacLeod and Monique Mercier, Self-Compassion for Ontario Physicians is four 90-minute weekly sessions (online) introducing 14 quick, evidence-based tools to reduce stress in your day to combat burnout.

Session Details: Thursday evenings (Oct. 23 to Nov. 13) from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Space is limited to 50 participants so be sure to register early. This program has been approved for up to 12.0 certified Mainpro+ credits or 6 Level 1 Royal College Credits.

IPCT Expansion Toolkit

The Alliance for Healthier Communities has created an online IPCT Expansion toolkit to support organizations who received IPCT expansion funding, as well as assist any current IPCTs looking to increase their operational capacity and advance access and attachment in their communities. 

This toolkit consists of resources, case examples, and change ideas organized across nine key themes. It is available for free on the Alliance website in English and French.

IPCT News and Updates

The Ontario Government announced a second round of calls for proposals to support the creation and expansion of interprofessional primary care teams in 2026-2027. The MLPCN and the Middlesex London Ontario Health Team are working together to coordinate and support the development of the proposals, which are due Nov. 14.

Canada Post Disruption (Cancer Screening)

The ongoing Canada Post labour disruption has had impacts on key cancer screening program activities, including letters for ColonCancerCheck, the Ontario Cervical Screening Program, and the Ontario Breast Screening Program.

While providers will continue to receive screening test results from their laboratory, they are now responsible for communicating these results with their patients directly and set up follow-up appointments if needed.
