COMMISSIONERS COURT - May 19, 2026

CONSTABLES

The court approved the purchase of Axon body and dash cameras for the Pct. 3 constable deputy. Video footage keeps an accurate account of events and protects the county and peach officers from liability.

LIBRARY

The court approved the Midland County Public Libraries Long-Range Strategic Plan for 2026-31. The plan establishes priorities for technology upgrades, expanded outreach and programming, improved access to educational resources, and continued compliance with accreditation requirements established by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. The approved plan will support continued state funding eligibility for the library system.

The court approved another performer for this summer's reading program. Tio Toto is a Texas-based bilingual performer who encourages reading through interactive music programs. Tio Toto will perform twice on Wednesday, June 10, first at the Downtown Library at 11 a.m., and then at Centennial Library at 1:30 p.m.

The court approved bringing a Julia Child exhibit to the library. Julia Child: A Recipe for Life brings community engagement and educational opportunities for all ages through displays, interactives and a replica of The Frech Chef kitchen. The display will run October 2 through January 10 and is paid for by the Midland County Library Foundation..

HORESESHOE

The court approved issuing a request for proposals for alcohol service vendors for events at the Midland County Horseshoe. The Horseshoe currently works with multiple alcohol vendors for various events, but having a single vendor to effectively serve patrons and both large and small events would reduce liability while increasing revenue and improving service.
