Dear Members & Friends,

Imagine a typical, hot, humid, thick evening in Richmond, Virginia, summer of 1970.  My parents, my brother, and I would likely be gathered around the dinner table on our screened porch of our home in Woodmont, "enjoying" a family dinner.  And, as often happened, my folks would likely share some type of parenting wisdom over the course of our dinner conversation. Recalling such a lazy, slow night, I can hear my father's voice in my head, "Anything worth doing is worth doing well."  It is the work ethic my parents taught me from a young age,
and the one I carry with me still.
Fast forward to March of 201 6,  and I am attempting to write a clever opening for the MAC n ews letter.  Being that it is March, thoughts of St. Patrick's Day, Ireland, leprechauns, pots of gold, four leaf clovers, rainbows, and  LUCK come to my mind.  I latch onto the concept of LUCK.  I am not a big believer in luck.  Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of luck, it is greatly appreciated and never spurned.  However, luck is certainly not something upon which to rely.  Luck is not guaranteed.  Rather, I choose to rely on hard work and preparation.  I agree with Oprah, "LUCK is preparation meeting opportunity."  In other words, I must work hard and prepare for what I want in life, so that I am ready and available when opportunity presents itself, even if such an opportunity is "disguised" as luck.  So, whatever your goals are, be they personal, professional, fitness related, or otherwise, those goals are achieved by your hard work; and, with all that hard work and preparation, you will  not only meet your goals, but also discover an abundance of LUCK.

With health & happiness,

Melissa O'Toole

GROUP EXERCISE

MAC H2O Classes
Did you know that....
1) Water aerobics allows you to get a full-body workout without putting undue stress on the joints.
2) Water offers 12x's more resistance than air! Moving through water means you are always building strength because you are constantly moving through water.
3) Although your heart rate may not increase as much as in land-based exercise, your heart is working just as hard. Underwater exercise actually pumps more blood to the heart!
4) Too hot exercising on land? Water has an automatic cooling effect and can prevent overheating.
5) In the water, you are mostly submerged, so no one can see if you get the moves wrong. An added benefit for some first timers!!

Challenge yourself to try one of our water classes in March -
H2O Aerobics, AquaZumba, Water in Motion, Deep H2O and H2O Gentile. (Be sure to click on the class description link above to see which class is the best fit for you!)
