Kellogg Foundation’s Day of Racial Healing is a time to discuss how communities can heal from the harms of racism and move forward together. Read more.

Petaluma, California, partnered with Healthy Democracy to convene an intensive lottery-selected deliberative process. Lottery-selected panels, often called citizens’ juries, are democratic systems that help governments tackle difficult policy questions like solutions to poverty by putting a representative group of residents at the center of governance. In a post-pandemic era, we are highlighting some outcomes of local democracy reform efforts approved by voters from across the country. In these examples, people shaping the structure of government are looking more like who they see in the grocery store or at the elementary school playground.
