Dear Church Family,

This Saturday at Howell UMC, at 9:30 a.m. you are all invited to be part of our Church Conference. This is our annual business meeting that our District Superintendent is part of each year. Yes, like you I miss the old days when the D.S. would travel to each church and sit in our pews, deliver a wonderful Word of encouragement, walk us through our business of voting, and let us celebrate how God has been working in our lives during the past year and dream of what is next. Now we meet with other churches from our zone where the district superintendent or another representative of the annual conference presides to worship, appoint leaders, make decisions, and celebrate the ministry in connection. This is how our local church connects to the Michigan annual conference.

I want to extend an invitation to you, your presence is welcome and encouraged. We are preparing a booklet that will have voting items included, our Lay Leadership Report, as well as our Team’s reflections on their ministries for 2024.

Last week, I was a presiding Elder at a zone Church Conference. The worship was good for my soul, the church I led through their business of voting was delightful, and we were asked to think through a few questions as a church. I hope we have at least 20 people from our church this Saturday to worship, vote, and talk together about: 

• What have we discovered about ourselves as a faith community this year? 
• Are we prepared to spring into action within a moment's notice if a need arrives?

I look forward to seeing you there this Saturday. If you are not able to attend, please keep our church family in prayer at 9:30 a.m.

I cannot wait to celebrate all that God is doing and has done through your generosity of prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

WANTED: THANKSGIVING DINNERS

Please help us create Thanksgiving meal packages for thirteen local families. In order to make it clearer what is needed and what has already been covered, please use the Sign-Up Genius link below if you are able to contribute.

CHRISTMAS EVE POINSETTIAS

We are decorating our sanctuary for Christmas Eve with beautiful poinsettias. The flowers may be dedicated in “honor” or “memory” of special people in our lives. The cost is $10.00 per plant. Place your orders in the offering box or drop them off at the church office. Orders must be received by November 25th.

Poinsettias may be taken home after the worship services on Christmas Eve. 

NOVEMBER MISSION OF THE MONTH

The Capernaum Mission (Formerly known as Capernaum Health Clinic)

The Capernaum Mission strives to demonstrate the love of Jesus in South Lyon by

providing caring and compassionate medical and dental services for those people who,

for whatever reason, currently find themselves uninsured or unable to access medical

care. Capernaum offers several week-long clinics each year, which are free for those in

need. Our new Director of Faith Formation, Katy Doyle-Hohf, currently serves as

Executive Director of The Capernaum Mission.

ANGEL TREE SUPPORT

The Angel Tree program is a popular way to spread the giving spirit of the Christmas season. It takes many hands to help many families. Yes! The church has space available for your group or event! Spaces fill up quickly and there is an approval process, so please allow as much time as possible between your request and the date of your meeting or event to ensure that we can

accommodate your needs.
