Confirmation is an important step in the life of faith. In the United Methodist tradition, confirmation is a time when individuals publicly claim for themselves the promises first spoken over them in baptism. It is a renewal of the baptismal vows already taken — a moment to say “yes” to the grace of God that has been surrounding them throughout their lives. This past Sunday, we celebrated the baptism of Riley, reminding us once again that baptism marks the beginning of our journey with Christ, while confirmation becomes an opportunity to personally affirm that faith and commitment within the community of believers.
We give thanks for the faithful leadership and guidance of Katy Doyle-Hohf and Mike Job, who have walked alongside our confirmands throughout this journey as their leaders, as well as their faith mentors, and supportive parents. Through study, conversation, prayer, and relationship, they have helped Adam, Molly, and Travis explore what it means to live as disciples of Jesus in today’s world.
As a congregation, we also celebrate the role each of us plays in shaping and encouraging the faith of the next generation. Confirmation Sunday is not only about the confirmands — it is a reminder of our shared calling to nurture faith, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously as followers of Christ.
We encourage everyone to join us this Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. service as we surround Adam, Molly, and Travis with prayer, love, and celebration during this meaningful moment in their faith journey. Let us come together to celebrate the work God is doing in their lives and in the life of our church.
Love and Peace in Christ, Rev. Mary
