Hello Church,

I’m back from Las Vegas, and I’m excited as we move into our next sermon series, “Songs of the Summer.” In this four-week series, we’ll dive into the Book of Psalms and explore how the writers of these ancient songs responded to the world around them through the lens of faith.

The Psalms give voice to so much of what we experience in life: joy, sadness, pain, anger, hope, and everything in between. And while these songs were written thousands of years ago, we still write and listen to music about those very same emotions today.

Throughout this series, you’ll hear some music during worship that you might normally hear on the radio as we explore how God can speak through songs like The Sound of Silence, A Change Is Gonna Come, This Land Is Your Land, What’s Going On, and more.

As we go through the series, I encourage you to think about your own songs of summer. What songs have stayed with you over the years? What is it about them that speaks to you? And when you really listen, can you hear something deeper? Can you sense the Holy Spirit speaking through the words, the music, or the memories connected to them?

Then share those songs with others—and with me! After all, we should always be looking for a few new songs to add to our playlists.

I can’t wait to worship, listen, and sing our way through the Psalms together.

MUSIC MINISTRY NEEDS

The choir will be singing in the worship service on Aug 23rd. This is a great opportunity to try out choir for a Sunday without committing to an extended season. We will rehearse a couple of hymns at 9AM on the 23rd. Please see Vera or reach out to Jen Liskey for music or any questions. Hope to hear some new voices joining in!

RUMMAGE SALE WEEK

We will be hosting a rummage sale on Aug 20 & Aug 21 from 9AM-4PM and on Aug 22 from 9AM-2PM with donations accepted on Aug 17-19 from 9AM-3:30PM & 5:30-7PM.

COOL YULE FAMILY FUN EVENT 

On Dec 5 from 3-5PM, we are planning to host a spirit-filled free community event, but we need your help to make this event a success. If you are available and willing to help, please sign up using this link so we can continue with plans.

MUSIC MINISTRIES LEADER (part-time, 15 hrs/week)

Position responsibilities include coordinating and preparing worship music for services and events, being the principal worship leader and accompanist, leading, coordinating, and recruiting volunteer musicians, working in partnership with the Band Leader, and communicating regularly with church staff.

YOUTH COORDINATOR (part-time, 8-10 hrs/week)

Position responsibilities include cultivating faith formation of the congregation's youth, collaboratively working to develop a Youth Group Plan, recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, and attending Youth Ministries events and other church events and meetings as requested.
