CHURCH LEAVES THE BUILDING
THIS SUNDAY!

Read John 15:1-8 to prepare
Hello Church Family,

I am looking forward to seeing many of you this weekend for our Church Has Left the Building event. Please remember that there will not be a regular service in-person or on YouTube, but at 10 am we will sing, hear scripture, and pray over those going out into the community.

This 15 minute service will be on our YouTube channel (if technology corporates). A huge thank you to Jessica Mytty and Sandy Boals and their team for all the work that has gone into planning this event. All are welcomed and we hope to see you on Sunday. May we be a beacon of God’s abundant love as we serve our neighbors.

As we begin to plan for the summer ministry opportunities, our Facebook ministry will look a little different. Starting May 3:

Mondays - Monday Meditations
Wednesdays- Java and Jesus live at 7:00 am
Friday - Music

Mark you calendar for May 20th. Church Council will be hosting a conversation about setting goals and priorities for our fall ministries as we engage our congregation and community and follow The Holy Spirit.

Love and Peace in Christ,
Rev. Mary
Men's Virtual Breakfast w/Bonus - May 1
Join us Saturday morning, May 1st 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. for a special two-part event. During the virtual breakfast on Zoom, Damon McInnes will share about his passion with a program entitled "Astronomy Basics". The bonus is delivered that evening when he hosts us at 9:00 p.m. at the parsonage for a time of star gazing through his two telescopes! Two for the price of one! Contact the church office if you need Zoom joining instructions.
A NOTE FROM SPRT:
The Staff-Parish Relations Team is excited to share with you that Lindy Juergens has accepted the position of Financial Secretary and that Molly Klemens has accepted the position of Treasurer. Molly will take on the Treasurer position and will also continue as the Administrator for Membership. We look forward to seeing how God will use Lindy's and Molly’s gifts in their new roles. Lindy and Molly will be training and transitioning over the next 3 months.

Thank you, Lindy and Molly, for your continued dedication to our church and your faithful service.

CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
We will start to gather around 9:30am for coffee and a light grab-and-go breakfast and to meet with our teams and leaders. Prayer, music, and commissioning will begin at 10:00am and project work will begin around 10:15am. Afterwards, the teams will gather back at the church for a light lunch (bring a chair or a picnic blanket). Even if you are not signed up to participate in a project, please come for the commissioning in the parking lot for prayer over our ambassadors of love as they leave to share God’s love in abundant ways in our community.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
The first Thursday in May is usually observed in our country as National Day of Prayer, and South Lyon has usually held a prayer gathering at noon on that day, in various locations over the years. A few of our church members have wondered if this important event will be held this year, and so far it does not appear to have been scheduled as a community event. In light of this, a few members here at SLFUMC are willing to lead in prayer and welcome any persons who wish to attend. Please know that you are invited to come to the church front lawn, bringing your chair and wearing a mask until we gather at safe physical distances, at noon on Thursday, May 6th. A list of topics to guide our prayers, some printed Scripture readings, and some printed prayers for us to share will be prepared.
If a light rain is in the forecast for that day, we will still meet, so bring your umbrella also. At this time, we do not have an alternative indoor location, so we will need to cancel if the precipitation is heavy.

If you have suggestions for topics you wish to have covered as we pray, please contact Lynn Kneisel at  248-719-0382. Thanks and blessings!
Middle School Mission Experience - July 16-18
We're excited to offer our Middle School folks a mission experience this summer! We'll spend our days working in Detroit with Cass Community Services and serving around South Lyon. The evenings will be filled with fun, fellowship, & worship. We will camp at the church or in backyards (depending on the number of participants). The cost of $60/teen includes a mission experience t-shirt, meals, and supplies for our mission projects. Registration is open for those currently in 6th-8th grades. Contact Kendi to sign up!
Senior High Mission Trip, August 15-21
We're excited to head to the UP to serve God's Country Cooperative Parish! The trip will cost $300-350 per participant and is open to completed 9th graders through completed 12th graders. Our projects will be similar to Mountain Top but tailored to participants' skill set. We're also looking for adult chaperones. Registration is open until May 1. Contact Kendi to sign up!
