Midweek Messenger . Jan 20

Dear Friends,
I have rewritten a note for today several times, but instead of finding the right words, I want to share the prayer that I wrote for today. This is part of the prayer that I will be rising up each hour on this day. I encourage us all to pray our own words and to believe in hope and peace.

Inauguration Prayer

Almighty Holy God, we pray for the peaceful transfer of presidential transition. May your blessing be on President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the new Cabinet. Prayers for President Trump and his family as he returns to the role of citizen. God we hand over any heaviness in our hearts today: anger, frustration, or fear. Help us to turn to you always. Be with us all as we find ways to love one another as Jesus commands. Help us to be instruments of peace in our communities and to believe healing and reconciliation. Come Holy Spirit and God bless America. Amen

Love and peace, Rev. Mary

Music Ministry Request for Videos and Pictures - From David Bassin
I am in search of some media for an upcoming musical offering. I am looking for short videos of dancing and images showing love for our neighbors.

Videos of dancing can be any age! This could be a child randomly dancing in the living room, a teenager practicing a dance routine, adults dancing together, etc.

Videos should be between 10-20 seconds and should be shot in landscape (horizontal) mode. Using a phone is perfect!

Images should show how we can love our neighbors and each other. Anything from a hug to images from mission trips, Salvation Army bell ringing or other acts of love will work.
Please upload pictures and videos to http://bit.ly/sharelovefumc
Thank you for your help!

The Mission Outreach Team is happily accepting any unwanted gift cards year-round that we can use towards our many mission projects! Please mark the remaining balance on the card. You can mail them or use the drop box by Door #4 at the back of the church.

Solicitation Love: Lent Devotions
We’ve all read unforgettable stories of God’s people showing love for one another. But we’ve lived them and seen them in our own lives, too.

As part of our 2021 Lenten theme, Love Your Neighbor, we’re compiling a devotional booklet illustrating love for God’s people in which you were the giver, recipient, or witness. We need yours.

Please put them to paper, in 300-500 words. These “love your neighbor” stories will be shared with the congregation as we remember the greatest example of love in history, when Jesus took the sins of the world upon himself and gave his life for the love of humankind.

Please submit them as a Word document to Joanna Firestone. The deadline is Feb. 7.

We’re also looking for submissions from our children, asking them to write a poem or short story, or perhaps color a picture that illustrates how we can show God’s love to others. Children’s submissions should be sent to Kendi Holcomb-Densmore electronically, or they can be left in the box outside of the front doors.

If you and/or your children plan to participate with a submission, please let Joanna or Kendi know now, so they can be watching for them.
