CONGRATULATIONS CONFIRMANDS!

On Sunday, May 3, SLFUMC had the honor of celebrating three confirmands by welcoming them into the membership of the church. During the past several months, Adam Doyle-Hohf, Travis Harvey, and Molly Maguire have spent time learning about the history, sacraments, and theology of the UMC. They also spent time reflecting on the meaning of worship and their spiritual gifts.  Through it all, laughter was shared and new bonds were formed. 

Confirmation takes a village, so I would like to thank the parents of these young people who committed to supporting these students on their confirmation journey. I would also like to thank the confirmation mentors, Keli DeVries, Marc Liskey, and Dan Noble, who met with the students to work on a Bible study based on the Book of Luke.

And my list of gratitude would not be complete without mention of Rev. Mary and Mike Job who both helped to teach confirmation this year. And to the congregation, so many of you have let me know that you hold our confirmands in prayer each year - thank you! I invite you, and the rest of the church, to keep these students, as well as the rest of SLFUMC’s young people, in prayer. It is one of the most important things we can do as they grow in faith and find their place in the ministry of God’s church.

We currently have job openings for the positions listed below. If you or someone you know is interested in obtaining further information, please use the SPRT email: staffparish@southlyonfirstumc.org.  We appreciate your assistance in helping spread awareness of these wonderful opportunities to be a part of our church staff!

MUSIC MINISTRIES LEADER (part-time, 15 hrs/week)

Position responsibilities include coordinating and preparing worship music for services and events, being the principal worship leader and accompanist, leading, coordinating, and recruiting volunteer musicians, working in partnership with the Band Leader, and communicating regularly with church staff.

YOUTH COORDINATOR (part-time, 8-10 hrs/week)

Position responsibilities include cultivating faith formation of the congregation's youth, collaboratively working to develop a Youth Group Plan, recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, and attending Youth Ministries events and other church events and meetings as requested.

GAME NIGHT MAY 8TH

You won’t want to miss a night of games and fellowship on May 8th at 6:45PM.

REV. MARY'S FAREWELL OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION
