The way we respond to this election matters deeply. It matters because our words and actions tell others something about our faith. They reveal how seriously we take Jesus' commandment to love our neighbors, even when we disagree with them.
Jesus did not spend his ministry endorsing politicians or seeking political power. Instead, he taught us what it means to love one another, care for the vulnerable, seek justice, and help bring the Kingdom of Heaven here to Earth.
And that work continues today, regardless of who wins or loses an election.
So today, I encourage all of us to find a moment of peace. Breathe in the presence of God. Remember that God still reigns, and nothing that happened yesterday, happens today, or will happen tomorrow can change that.
And as you breathe that peace of God back into the world, consider how your words and actions will reflect your faith. Will they bring people closer to Jesus, or will they push them further away? Will they build bridges or create divisions? Will they reflect the love and grace that Christ has so freely given us?
Because that is our calling. Not to win arguments or elections, but to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
At South Lyon First, let us continue to be Christ-Focused, Spirit-Filled, and Mission-Driven!
