Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who participated in our very special service last Sunday as we explored generosity as a spiritual act at the table of love. It was exciting to see everyone dressed as Travelers Coming Home! Members in attendance engaged in discussions around three questions; 1.) How has God impacted your life? 2.) How has the church impacted our community and the world? 3.) How has South Lyon First UMC made a difference in your faith walk? Throughout each service members helped co-create the word clouds (below). We encourage everyone to consider these questions and review the word clouds when you complete you estimate of giving cards. Think about how our church has helped you explore and grow your spirituality and deepen your faith. Take this time to see how generosity helps us center ourselves in our ever-changing world. Estimate of Giving cards will be collected this Sunday for a special blessing but are welcome at any time. If you did not receive a card, extras are available at church or online.
Thank you,
Marc Liskey and David Ascher

TRUSTEES CHURCHWIDE FALL CHURCH CLEAN UP NOV 11
Take a look at the church grounds – twelve volunteers worked Saturday morning to do much needed raking and tree trimming. There were A LOT of leaves – and a few more to come down. Much appreciation to Bob & Lynn Prohaska for the use of their two trailers and power equipment. Several overgrown trees were trimmed and hauled away thanks to them. Dave Smith had given a fresh coat of paint to the Cross & Flame this fall – and now it is visible again! Thank you to Bob Prohaska, Chip Rick, Doreen Hannon, Jack Harvey, Jen Denny, Lindy Juergens, Lynn Prohaska, Mark Hannon, Jim Yerke, Scott Denny, Shannon Boals and Talon Harvey. Thank you to Shannon Boals and the Men’s group for previously taking down the tent and putting it away.

THANKSGIVING MEALS
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to pick up supplies, so that 6 South Lyon families may enjoy a special meal on Thanksgiving Day. All items need to be to Rev. Mary by November 19th at noon. Nonperishables may be dropped off at the church during office hours or on Rev. Mary's front porch. Please contact Rev. Mary for turkey drop off arrangements.
You overwhelmed me with your generosity. Thank you for being you and impacting the lives of others in practical and spiritual ways.

NEED FOR A SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIAN
Friends, SPRT is reaching out to the church membership to fulfill the need for a substitute custodian. It is important at all times to keep our building welcoming, fresh, and clean (as our Janis always does!) for our congregation and guests. We would like to have a list of a few names to call upon when we have a need - usually two to three times a year, when Janis is on a much deserved vacation. The work would be 10-12 hours in most weeks, with days and times flexible to one’s own schedule, and would be directed by Rev. Mary. Pay would be hourly and comparable to what we offer our staff. If this is an area in which you would like to help out the church occasionally with your time and cleaning expertise, please contact SPRT Chairman Robin Fanning.
We’re on the lookout for scripture readers! If you would be willing to read scripture in worship, please sign-up here and note your preferred service time. Thank you!
VOLUNTEER NURSERY HELP NEEDED
Dear Church Family, I am Bobbie Bushey and I have volunteered to be the nursery coordinator. I did this because I want our families and little ones to feel welcome and I know all of you want this also. I also volunteered because I know our church family is
always willing to lend a helping hand, so we will have many volunteers.
We are asking for volunteers to enjoy the company of our little ones for both
church services. We have many wonderful men and women in our church family who would be fantastic volunteers in the nursery. Please take some time in prayer and listen to
God to hear if he is nudging you to volunteer. We would like to have two
volunteers for each Sunday.
You can sign up below so you can play with our little ones when it is convenient
for you. We need volunteers starting now. If you are willing to volunteer, please send me your name, telephone number and email address. We would like to develop a list of volunteers. Please call me or email me or talk to me at church with any questions you may have. I am looking forward to a great year in the nursery.
Blessings,
Bobbie
Jesus said to his disciples, “Let the. children come to Me, and do not forbid them;
for of such is he kingdom of God. Mark 10:14
And he took them (the children) in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed
them. Mark 10:16
