A New Sermon Series for Advent beginning November 27th

“Do not be afraid.” — The Angels

The angels that appear in the story of Jesus’ birth would have been very comfortable in our world of tweets and hashtags. Their messages were often short and to the point — their favorite line being #DoNotBeAfraid. As we look at the stories of these winged messengers to Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherds and their reactions to them, we will contemplate what messages we can offer that will counteract a culture of fear and bring #morehope, #morepeace, #morejoy, and #morelove to the world.

Nov 27 – #MoreHope Luke 1: 5-25, 57-80

Dec 4 – #MorePeace 1 Luke 1: 26-56

Dec 11 – #MoreJoy Matthew 1: 18-25

Dec 18 – #MoreLove Luke 2: 1-20

Dec 24 – #DoNotBeAfraid Luke 2:14

We Hope You Join Us For Worship

Love and Peace in Christ,

Rev Mary

Friday night, January 27, through Sunday afternoon, January 29, we’re retreating to Wesley Woods Camp in Dowling, Michigan. Our Winter Retreat is a time to get to know each other better, play hard, and take some time to (re)connect spiritually and seek the Lord together. Friends are always welcome. Please sign up here by December 1.

Wesley Woods offers outdoor activities like snow painting, sledding, and broomball. And indoor fun, including a dedicated game room, fireplace (for s’mores) and so much MORE. The retreat fee is $100 person and due by December 15, 2022. However, there are scholarship funds available if the fee is a hardship for your family. Please do not hesitate to contact Kendi for details - confidential arrangements will be made.

We are gathering at Third Monk Brewing this Wednesday, November 16th, @ 7:30 pm.

This week we will discuss Total Depravity, “Being who God Created You to Be” Faith and the Future, and Powerball…Bonus Round – Celebrating Thanksgiving and … anything else that is on your heart.

Please come and join us for a cold beer (…or pop) and a lively conversation.

Ministry Shares (formerly known as apportionments) are assigned by the Conference as the church’s fair share of the common ministry. Together we support the work of the United Methodist Church in mission and ministry. These gifts provide vital support to a wide range in ministry and mission in Michigan and around the world. Please prayerfully consider giving to the November Mission of the Month.

Women’s Bible Study will not meet Wednesday, November 23.

We’ll resume November 30.

Thanks, Kendi

The men’s quarterly euchre tournament returns from its COVID pause on Friday, November 18th! Join us in the Friendship Room for a great evening of fellowship, fun, and snacks. (Enter at Door #6.) Bring a $5 donation toward snacks, drinks, and prizes. Arrive at 6:45 to begin at 7:00. Typical end time is 10:00. Sign up on the kiosk in the church parlor for planning purposes. Contact Dave Smith with questions.

During our Invitation to a Generous Life campaign, we spent time reflecting on the fact that we are all created in the image of a Generous God, that Generosity is grounded in gratitude, revealed in prayer, and sealed by faith. If you were not present to respond with your Estimate of Giving card, you may find extras at church or using a link on our website. Thank you for the ways that you spiritually connect with God as you ask and answer the question “God how do you want me to live?”
