Message from Pastor John

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

I am on vacaction this week, returning Sunday for Rev. Martin Reeves message. Also don't forget the picnic after worship.

But I do want to take a moment to thank everyone who helped prepare for the Bishop's visit on Sunday. It was a great day and I think he was very happy with what he saw happening here. Thank you!

Blessings,

John

Worship News

Prayer for the week:

God of delight,

your Wisdom sings your Word

at the crossroads where humanity and divinity meet.

Invite us into your joyful being

where you know and are known

in each beginning,

in all sustenance,

in every redemption,

that we may manifest your unity

in the diverse ministries you entrust to us,

truly reflecting your triune majesty

in the faith that acts,

in the hope that does not disappoint,

and in the love that endures. Amen.

Sunday: The scripture readings for Sunday, May 31, are Genesis 1:1-2:4a; Psalm 8; 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 and John 4:27-42. Sunday Rev. Martin Reeves, a missionary in Peru, will be our guest preacher, and his message "Open your Eyes and Look at the Fields", will be on the passage from John. Sunday is a contemporary service.

Questions to help you prepare: Read the section before this starting at verse 7. Why is what Jesus does so scandalous? How do we understand ourselves as those who reap what we did not sow? What are we sowing now that someone else will reap? What is the role of the Samaritan woman in what happens?

Missions News

Martin Reeves Missionary from Peru

Martin Reeves will be joining us and preaching May 31. The Missions team requests you pray for their ministry in the coming weeks.

Here are their prayer requests:

  1. Holy Spirit, guide Martin Reeves as he travels and shares the Great Commission and his ministry work in Peru.
  2. Evelyn is now serving as pastor of our church plant in el Milagro (Trujillo). She is a wonderful woman of God with ministry gifts of teaching and preaching. She works 48 hours a week as a legal assistant and will be taking the equivalent of the BAR sometime in the future. She leads our young adult group Saturday evenings and preaches Sunday. Pray for her wisdom, strength, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and encouragement.
  3. Pray for the spiritual and numerical growth of the church.
  4. Pray our Medical Laboratory/Clinic reaches more people in the community who need medical assistance. Pray for God’s provision - Financially, the lab needs $3,000 per month to continue to operate.
  5. Pray for travel mercies.
