Midweek often finds us measuring progress — looking at where we are, what we’ve accomplished, and how far there is still to go. Earlier this week, I found myself in conversation with a few friends who were struggling with that very thing. They had chosen to stick it out through a difficult situation while others in their circle had decided to bail and move on.

It got me thinking.

Sometimes it looks like people are ahead — but often, they’ve just skipped the line. They’ve avoided the trial, the hardship, the experience that produces authentic growth and character.

It can look like moving on means you’ve moved ahead — but sometimes, moving on just means moving past what mattered most.

I love this quote by Elisabeth Elliot:

“He makes us wait, for He has things to do in our souls that we are not interested in.”

Let patience have her perfect work. Don’t fret. Let them skip the line.

This is your race — your path — and deep down, you know you’d rather be found faithful than half-steppin’, cutting the line and calling it progress.

Be still for the deep work that will ultimately shape you — the kind that lasts.

Until next time,

Mrs. Farmer Jones

🍂 FINAL THURSDAY HARVEST HANG OF 2025

Mini Pop-Up Market • Seasonal Plates & Pairings Starts at 6 PM

Join us Thursday, October 23, as we close the 2025 season with one last gathering of food, fellowship, and farm flavor.

What began as a weekly veggie pick-up has grown into one of the region’s favorite slow-down experiences — a celebration of the harvest and the hands that bring it to the table.

We’ll mark the season’s end with a Mini Pop-Up Market featuring our shop’s local artisans and an incredible a la carte menu of seasonal plates and pairings from our wood-fired kitchen. Live music by Molly Adamson and lots of cheers for 24 amazing Thursdays!
