All Things Made New
I’m the kind of guy that drives a car until it dies. One of my cars had brakes that needed to be replaced, tires with little tread, a cracked windshield, it stalled in intersections and often wouldn’t shift into reverse. The cost of making that car “new” was beyond what I could afford. I needed to trade it in on a newer model.
Our joy is found in that our heavenly Father did not look at our broken lives and determine that the cost to make us new was too great. He didn’t choose to trade us in on a newer model. He knew what the cost would be to make us new—His Son’s death on the cross. But the Lord didn’t consider that cost too great. His love for us is greater than the cost that had to be paid.
Revelation 22:5 says, “And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’” This is exactly what Jesus does—He makes all things new. Jesus came into a world broken by sin and makes it new through the forgiveness He earned for us on the cross.
Jesus said, Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). This is an invitation by the Savior to find in Him forgiveness when we are weighted down by guilt.
In your prayers bring your sins to the Lord. Find forgiveness in His sacrifice on the cross. Live with the confidence that you have been made “new!”
     Blessed New Year,

    Advent Blessings,
Pastor Raasch
  PRAYING FOR YOURSELF
Reflect on what is on your heart and mind and take it to God in prayer.

Is there something we can pray about for you?
Praying for One Another
  • Sherrill George and family, on the passing of her husband, Harold. Give thanks for the gift of faith that leads us to heaven. Pray for peace and comfort to all who mourn.
  • Joel Kasten and Cal Seban as they recover from orthopedic surgery. Give thanks for successful procedures and pray for healing and for patience.
  • Maria & Derek, whose 11-year-old daughter, Mia, passed away. Pray that the Lord would surround this family with His caring and comforting people.
  • All who battle cancer, including Judy Wiechert, Kathy Schmidt, Brad Sachse and Pastor Joel Brandt. Pray that the Lord would bless their treatments, deliver them from pain and strengthen them and their families in faith.
  • Muriel Going, Genevieve Anschuetz, Sonia Buhrow, Lois Bublitz, Hope Kittel, Dee Lewis,  Katie Kubiac, Bernice Zeckmesiter and Lois Jung, as they contend with ongoing health issues. Ask the Lord to grant healing and strength for the body and peace and joy for the soul.
PRAYING FOR FIL MINISTRIES & OTHERS
Pray for our Guatemala Mission Team as they leave for this loving work of building home and teaching children. Ask that the Lord would protect them in their travels, encourage them in their labors and fill them with joy as they serve Him by serving others.

Pray for our Mission of the Month, “Lutheran Hour Ministries,” as they bring the Good News of Jesus through radio broadcasts, internet ministries and Bible studies.

MISSION OF THE MONTH
Sunday Bible class at First Immanuel resumes on January 12th, with a seven-week study of "The Fruit of the Spirit" -- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Sunday Bible class At River of Life has resumed and is doing a study on “Prayers From The Bible”.
Have you ever wanted to speak up during a sermon and say, “Pastor, can you repeat that last comment, it didn’t quite get that.” How about, “I really don’t understand where you are going with this message, Pastor!” SERMON REWIND can be your opportunity to do just that. SERMON REWIND will take place in the fellowship hall at First Immanuel from 10:10 – 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning. You can get your questions answered or get a sneak peek at the sermon of that day. It is an informal Q&A based discussion so bring your questions and your sermon outline!
STEPHEN MINISTRY MOMENT
In Luke, chapter 10, beginning with verse 30, we read the parable of the Good Samaritan. As followers of Christ, we pray that we would live our faith and be a “Good Samaritan” to those in need. In addition, all of us, at one time or another, can identify with the man lying on the side of the road in need of care. God sends Good Samaritans to us to give us care. We should not reject His gift! Be open to receiving care yourself should the need arise. It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help when you encounter a difficult time. God created us not only to give help to others, but also to receive help when we need it. Keep Stephen Ministry open as an option for yourself should you encounter difficulties. To learn if the one-on-one, confidential ministry might be right for you, please call Pastor Reichmann at 377-6610.
