Midweek Update

Dear saints,
I do hope that you are each finding ways to live into the new reality we find ourselves ensconced in. For that is key, that we might find ways to live, to still be present to the world even if those ways are limited and require some ingenuity on our part. We are certainly working hard on staff to pivot once again following the Mayor of Atlanta’s order to ’stay-at-home'. Part of the adjustment for all of us as a church that loves to serve is to find ways to offer what we can to the community around us and retain an appropriate social distance while doing so. In this e-news, you will find a list of service opportunities that seeks to achieve exactly that. It is not exhaustive by any means, but each service provider listed here is one we already know or have called and got to know so that we can feel confident sending you in their direction.
I wonder if serving is something you might consider in this season? Isaiah 54 invites us to “
Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.
” Now is a time for us to enlarge who we are to others, to expand our sense of self to incorporate concerns into our hearts and daily living that otherwise we may not be mindful of. I pray that these opportunities to serve, as well as the other openings for your soul to stretch and your mind to be challenged will indeed help you live more fully in this time before us.

For those who are critically ill and those facing uncertainty:
God of the present moment,
God who in Jesus stills the storm
And soothes the frantic heart;
Bring hope and courage to us
As we wait in uncertainty.
Bring hope that you will make us the equal of whatever lies ahead.
Bring us courage to endure what cannot be avoided,
For your will is health and wholeness;
You are God, and we need you.
Amen.
