June 24 Update Regathering for Worship

We continue to plan to return to in-person worship  in a way that protects the health and safety of all in our church and community.  Pastor Jim Bell shares what you can expect when we regather to worship the Lord.
"Trust and Obey"
June 28, 2020

The theme of our remote worship  service on June 28  is Trust and Obey. The scripture lessons are Romans 4:13-25 and Genesis 12:1-8. We will study the biblical figure Abraham and his faith in God that resulted in remarkable obedience. God desires for us to trust him and to obey him.

Online Giving

Did you know that one-third of our congregation gives electronically? And the majority of those who give electronically  have chosen to maximize their impact by setting up a recurring donation which automates their gift  to give on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule.    We give thanks for your continued support and for sharing the love of Christ to others during this time of great need.

To set-up your recurring gift, or to give a one-time gift, visit our website at ; give via our New church app (see above); or by sending your check to:

CDC & NCDHHS Recommendations

From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and NC health officials, here are  essential practices you can do to reduce the impact of COVID-19:
  • Wear cloth face coverings in public settings.
  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly.  Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Disinfect surfaces in your home.
  • Avoid touching your face, and cough into your sleeve or a tissue.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well.
  • Practice social distancing (at least six feet) from friends and others.
  • Individuals who believe they have COVID-19 symptoms (cough, fever over 100.4 degrees, and/or shortness of breath) and/or have been in close contact with a COVID-positive person should self-isolate and call their healthcare provider, the Nash County Health Dept. hotline - (252) 462-2079, or the NC 24/7 hotline - 1-866-462-3821 - where they will receive guidance on next steps, which may include testing or self-monitoring.
Governor Cooper  authorized that on May 22 our state move into Phase 2 of  a three-phase plan to reopen the economy  and allow a gradual return to public life.  The  statewide stay-at-home order is lifted, although vulnerable people should still stay home.  Face coverings are recommended for use in all public settings, including grocery stores, pharmacies and other retail businesses.  Face coverings are recommended for use outdoors where 6 feet of distance is not possible.

Remote working  remains highly recommended.  People can gather in small groups of no more than 10 people indoors or 25 people outdoors.

NC Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen said, "When you leave your home, follow the three Ws:  Wear a face covering, wash your hands, and wait six feet apart."
