Important Worship Update

The Mt. Zion Reopening Task Force met Tuesday evening Dec. 15 via Zoom and decided to suspend indoor in-person worship, effective immediately and going through at least Jan.10.  This was a difficult decision because we all value so much the gathering together of God's people for worship, especially in this season of Christmas.  However, as we considered the rising number of Covid 19 cases in our area and Bishop Leeland's words of caution concerning indoor worship, the Task Force thought it best to exercise extreme caution during these unusual days.

On Monday, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy Cohen wrote, “We are on a dangerous course. Everyone - our counties and municipalities, businesses, community organizations, and every North Carolinian - must act to save lives and make sure our hospitals can care for those who need them.”  The Task Force is very grateful to all the volunteers who have made it possible for our church to worship in person since May 31 --either outside or in our sanctuary. Now, as we enter into a different phase together, we are asking for everyone to worship with us online. We know that the vaccinations have begun and that the virus will eventually be contained.  But for the time being, let us be vigilant and do everything we can to provide for the safety and health of our church, our community, and our world.

Parking Lot Services

We are excited to offer 2 different times for our Parking Lot services. You do not need to pre-register for these services. For these services you will stay in or around your car while listening to the service on an FM radio. Those who attend these services will receive Communion elements when they arrive. They are encouraged to bring their own candles and lighters for the closing candle lighting. If you would like to come into the sanctuary before or after one of the parking lot services to have your picture made at the Chrismon tree, you may do so.

3:00 pm - Parking Lot
This service is designed especially for families and children and will focus on the telling of the Christmas story. Communion and candle lighting will conclude the service.

5:00 pm - Parking Lot
This service will contain a sermon and special music. Communion and candle
lighting will conclude the service.

Online only - 7:00 pm
This service will be a traditional Christmas Eve service with sermon and choral music. It will be broadcast on the church website, Facebook, and YouTube. You may view it live or at some other time. We will also be “extending the table” of the parking lot services by offering Communion to anyone who would like to drive through the traffic circle in front of the sanctuary between 4:00 and 4:30 pm, between 6:00 and 6:30 pm and from 8:00 - 9:00 pm.
