is Coming to Town...
As a faith-based organization, it is the mission of Midwest Food Bank to share the love of Christ by alleviating hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and providing disaster relief, all without discrimination.


SUPPORT A WORTHY CAUSE
The Midwest Food Bank has enthusiastically approved creation of a New England division! Our first priority is to hire an Executive Director and lease warehouse space with the goal of beginning to distribute food in the 2nd quarter 2021.  
BACKGROUND
In November 2019 an informational meeting with a focus of bringing a branch of the Midwest Food Bank to our area was held. Continuous efforts were planned, but the pandemic slowed progress. After much discussion, consultation, input, and prayer, the way is open for us to make this a reality, and the need is great!
 The initial local advisory board includes Joe Koch, Maxine Schneider, Heather Summers, and Brent Walder. A press release about the New England division will be issued soon.
 MFB distributes food - without cost - to over 2,000 non-profit partners and social service agencies in the United States. The economic hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic have increased needs due to greater food insecurity. MFB will now have 12 locations, including 10 in the United States as well as one in East Africa and one in Haiti. Over $350 million worth of food will be distributed by MFB in 2020; a 25% increase from 2019.
BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 1 in 8 people in Connecticut struggled with food insecurity. 

2020 estimates indicate this number has increased to 
1 in 6, including a sobering 1 in 4 children. 
With your help, a Midwest Food Bank division will be established in Connecticut to serve those suffering from food insecurity in many parts of New England.

We are currently working with a commercial realtor to explore warehouse leasing options, but we welcome any forthcoming leads.
 We encourage you to reach out and spread the word about our efforts as we will need much support through financial giving, manpower, and logistics.
