Ski Cooper Recap

As you may or may not know, USSA Masters racing is a Nationwide circuit. Every Division of USSA has Masters events scheduled each season, and many adult racers travel to other Divisions to attend these races. One of the more popular events for Midwest racers is the Ski Cooper races held in mid-January every year by the Rocky Mountain Masters at Ski Cooper, a great racing venue on the other side of Copper Mountain just north of Leadville, CO. Again this year, there was a Speed Camp, followed by 2DHt, 2SH, 2SG and 1SL. This is a lot of great racing over 6 days!

The Midwest Masters helps sponsor this trip every season for Midwest racers. The Board approves $1500 annually to help reduce the cost of lodging and provide help with transporting skis. This year Midwest Masters had 11 people take advantage of this offer and attend these races, which was by far the best representation of Divisions outside of Rocky Mountain. We also held the first informal competition between the two Divisions, which we've aptly named the Shin-Tuck Showdown. Unfortunately this season Rocky Mountain won the trophy, but we'll be back next year!

Midwest attendees: Lilla Gidlow, Doug Fellman, Janie Guiliani, Dan Bates, Tim Cleary, Sean McCann, Tim Schneider, Jeff Gleason, Steve Taylor, Tobi Burek, and Ryan Fuller.

If you've ever thought about trying a speed event, this is it! Just ask any of the above attendees and they'll share with you how great the event is. Put it on your calendar for next year!
