Fast Wax has done something that no one else in the industry is doing. We have made our top-of-the-line race wax even faster by adding a second additive to our formula. ­ While on a quest to make the next generation ski wax that is environmentally friendly and fast as hell, our chemical engineers came across several very promising additives. One of these additives, "J", was such strong contender as a fluorocarbon replacement we continued to develop and test with it. Even after Fast Wax moved forward with the base Thunderbolt water repellent additive. The thunder struck when we started mixing the Thunderbolt additive along with additive "J", a high-density polyethylene wax with a metallic nanocomposite additive. This is where the PLUS comes in. ­ All Thunderbolt Plus products have two highly engineered wax additives that break away from the fluorocarbon legacy: One for speed, one for durability. ­ Thunderbolt Plus's underlying wax is made using our existing formulas for the High Speed (HS) Wax series. Buck Hill "Mock Race"

Get ready for the season with a warm event at Buck Hill on Saturday, December 17. We will be training GS with coaching, timing, drills, and gates. We will also cover the new registration system, course inspection, and understanding our run orders. Introduce yourself to Masters racing and get some quality training at the same time. Border Battle

Jan 28-29: Wild Mountain Border Battle Midwest Masters will be returning to Wild Mountain for a weekend of racing. We will race GS on Saturday and SL on Sunday. The Border Battle Trophy is a yearly trophy awarded to either Region I (primarily Minnesota) or Region II (primarily Wisconsin and Illinois) whose team scores the most points for all races in the event. The top 10 point scorers based upon Age Class Place Points for each Region are selected. The sum of the Age Class Points for each of the top 10 members are compared to one another and the Region with the most points wins the Border Battle competition and will get their Region and names engraved on the Border Battle trophy. Registration for all of our events is now open and can be accessed directly using this link. The registration capability is hosted by our partner, AdminSkiRacing.com, and most all Masters Divisions are using this platform. Once on the page, select "Midwest" as the Race Series then hit "Apply". You should see all of our events listed.

Buck Hill SL Training

This is a 10-week program that starts just after the new year, and is coached alongside the Buck Hill Ski Team. We will continue to have drill time coached by Peter, Mike, and/or Dave for those interested from 6-7pm, with gate time to follow from 7-8:30. We will also be offering offline video analysis for those that attend nights when we record video. We have extended the cost of $225 until December 31st. Dates: Thursday, January 6 - Thursday, March 9 Register here before December 31 to save $25 on the program! New to Slalom? Never tried before? Always wanted to but never had the opportunity or the right equipment? We have you covered. We have purchased three additional lanes to offer a drop-in option for those new to slalom to provide a level of confidence and familiarity before racing at an event. We also have a full set of slalom gear you can borrow for the session (new FIS atomic Slalom skis from 152 to 165, slalom poles with guards and shin protection). Need the equipment to attend a racing event? We can do that, too. How much will this cost to try? Only $50. This will provide coaching prior to the training and access to the nightly slalom training lanes.along with any required equipment to ensure you are ready for the fun! Come on out and give it a try! Shin Tuck Showdown

It is official! Once again, Midwest Masters will be joining with Rocky Mountain Masters for the annual Shin Tuck Showdown in January 2023. Come on out and join us for loads of fun, lots of vertical, and to help retain the coveted Shin Tuck Trophy in the Midwest this year! When: Weds, Jan 11 - Sun Jan 15 Where: Ski Cooper, Colorado Schedule Wednesday: "Speed Fundamentals" Camp Thursday: Coached timed runs Friday: Official DH training runs Saturday: 2DH Sunday: Super-G and SL Ski Cooper is the perfect venue for both the first-time “I wanna try it!” speedsters and those who are already hooked on speed and want more. There is high-quality coaching, plentiful practice runs available for the speed camps and training, plus this event is the best value in ski racing. Downhill Tips Lots of vertical to be had! We did some math and determined that the number of speed runs at this event is about 118 runs down Milk Run at Buck Hill! This equates to over 8 YEARS of racing Ski Challenge at Buck Hill... in only 4+ days at Ski Cooper! (Note: The Rocky Mountain Ski Cooper Fact Sheet is still being finalized. Copper Camp Re-Cap

We once again had a great camp at Copper Mountain this fall. We had some snow this year, which made racing conditions a bit challenging, but overall the camp was a great success. One snowy day of GS then one great day of GS, followed by one snowy (and windy) day of SL then a final day training SL that was picture perfect! Thanks to our coaches Matt Fox, Tim Seeling, and Dave Gardner for making the camp awesome. We plan to head back next year, perhaps with an additional 5th day dedicated solely to drills and controlled free-skiing!
