Safety

This race is an extreme trail race. A wilderness adventure. Come prepared to take care of yourself in emergencies. This is a big forest. It is important to pay attention and follow the marked race course.

  • GPX FILE All runners are required to download the gpx file and know how to use it. You will not have cell service. Having this map with you will allow you to find your way back on course if you were to take a wrong turn. I use YouTube to search how to upload files to my phone or watch. Gaia is a popular app that people use.

  • IMPORTANT / SAFETY: all runners must check in and out of every aid station. This is done by handwriting on a spreadsheet that is attached to a clipboard. Volunteers will be helping with this. You are responsible to make sure a volunteer confirmed you are checked out. If all volunteers are busy, write yourself out.

  • What to carry: a safety blanket, plenty of water, nutrition, and a dry shirt. Anything that will help you take care of yourself if you end up away from aid stations longer than you planned.

  • The stations are 6 to 7 miles apart on rugged trail that will move slow. Refuel, and drink plenty of water at every stop. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

  • IMPORTANT : You will not find cell service in the forest. Have all maps downloaded onto your phone for directions before you arrive to the area.

  • Helpful to take note of: most of the race course is on the Ice Age trail. The Ice Age trail is marked with yellow blazes. Course is marked with pink flags, they have reflective tape on them that will show up at night.

NO CREW FOR A REASON. PLEASE READ

Let your friends, family, and crew know that they can only see you at CREW ACCESS aid stations. Have them look at the race spreadsheet so they know where they are allowed. Getting aid at non crewed stations can get you DQ'd from the event.

Our crew access aid stations are set by where there is places to safely park. All crew cars must have 4 tires off the road and not be blocking traffic. If we have problems with people parking in non crew areas we risk not being able to permit the race in the future.

Pre-purchased camping spots

Campsites are assigned on link. Each campsite purchased is good for one car, and one two man tent. Two people per purchase.

When you arrive to the park- your campsite will have a sign on it with the names of those staying on the campsite. No electricity.

Campground is reserved from Thursday to Monday.

See Spearhead Point Campground to learn about the location, rules, etc.

Additional Camping Areas

There are paid walk in sites that become available the week of race. Information on Eastwood campground and West Point campground

Meet Jason Venckus, founder of REGAIN

Jason is a small business owner and endurance athlete who created REGAIN because he wanted something better for his own training and racing. What started as a personal need grew into a business built around helping other athletes.

Jason also gives back to the trail community, regularly volunteering at races and working incredibly hard behind the scenes.

We’re proud to serve REGAIN at our aid stations and encourage our runners to support this small business.
